What kind of distances are the 3.5's on the forum getting from a tank of gas? I'm averaging 500kms per tank so far...

I can usually get around 675kms per tank. (425 or so miles.)

Holy crap! 675!! That's witchcraft! I'm at 505kms right now and the DIC says I've got 75 left before it's time to get out and walk. Lots of highway km's there Custom??

heh, you're making me do all these conversions to get metric units. lol. my average speed is 57 KM/H (37 MPH) so it's a mix of city/highway driving. I'm getting 25.2 Miles per gallon right now, or about 9.2 L/100KM if my calculations are correct.

Bloody metric eh!! Well you're definately getting better mileage than I am. I'm curious to see what the other members are getting. My average is about 12l/100kms - about 20mpg combined. I'll have to employ all my diesel-mileage tricks to catch up!! Max the tire pressure, get into top gear quickly, drive really slow...

averaging 70mph (DIC) on a road trip last weekend, I got 21.7mpg (DIC also). So in a tank of 18.5 gallons, that's about 400 miles exactly (not DIC).
Sigh... city is about 16-17mpg. Needs some O2 sensors is my guess.

lowgear, how are those spark plugs looking?

That's a good question. It's on my list of things to do once we start getting some warmer weather. I hear changing the back ones is a bit of a chore. I don't fancy a $500 spark plug change from the stealership...

Jeez, I get about 550-600kms/tank of gas. Dan, you have a very light foot. Mind you, on the highway I go about 65-75MPH (110-125KPH). Check out this site for converting fuel economy figures: www.sciencemadesimple.net/fuel_economy.php

ok. my gas mileage is back down to 23.9 now that it's been below 40* again. When it's in the upper 40's, to low 50's I can get in the 25 range.. I usually drive 80+ on the highway, and get around 30 MPG instant at those speeds.

I think you may have talked about this before, but is the warm-up time factored in at all? Seems like you'd have to warm-up for longer with the colder temperatures. I dunno what I'm talking about though, just thought I mention it

I was getting 19-20mpg typically with my driving around town. I just put Castrol Syntec in for the first time and immediately my mileage dropped to 16-17 (that's for two tanks of gas). Now I am in Texas and the weather got hotter about the same time so it could be the AC, but this certainly doesn't support any of the supposed increased mileage synthetics give you. I wonder if synthetics are better at all. Does anyone know of any actual independent testing that proves synthetics protect better, give better mileage, burn less oil, or anything else good for that matter.

I generally run about 23 - 24 MPG, with a 50/50 mix of highway and city, about 70 on the highway. If OKDOT would ever stop "improving" the I-35/I-240 interchange, it would be more like 75 % highway.

Is it a bad thing that I only get 18.7mpg all city driving? I get 31mpg on the highway.

I can report the following for a 2001 3.5L model. I can get 800Km plus on a tank without the DIC dunning me to fill up. I have proven this twice on trips from Toronto to Boston. It was highway pretty much point to point, at speeds ranging from 120Kph to 90Kph (New York I90 has some restrictions). On the trip down, the DIC reported average fuel economy at 7.0 liters / 100 Km, return was 7.2. I attribute this to the climb from sea level to 116m above. A/C was turned off (weather was cool). Cruise control used for most of the trip. Only myself and light luggage. I use an oil additive 'Tuffoil', Lucas top oil, and K+N Air Filter. All claim to improve fuel economy. It might be so, because previously on an identical trip under similar conditions, it was 8.2 down and 8.6 back (extra passenger back) without the top oil. On a trip this winter from Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, 4 in the car and fully loaded with luggage, 8.0 down and 8.2 back. I am most impressed with the highway economy of this car. It has around 140K on it right now. City ecomony is around 12L / 100 Km, and I don't want to even think about it with the price of gas edging towards 1.20 / L.

i have the worse gas mileage on mine. i get like 350 at best, but then i drive like a maniac. sometimes i feel sorry for my rora. im everywhere, freeway, city, country, woods, desert, u name it (except in the water, i dont think that would be good for the Rora) i think it all depends on your average MPH and surroundings (like weather or road type) i dont know but i do know that i spend too much money and premium is just too damn expensive.....
