I would never use anything other than OEM (exactly what came in the car from the factory). That's what it was made for, and the transmission isn't something durable enough to take abuse/improper service and live through it. I don't know about the Aurora, but Mitsubishi Galants (I have a 1996) generally die within 5,000 miles of putting incorrect transmission fluid into them. It's that quick.

I'm interested as well. I thought the main reason for the limited use of syn. trans fluid was due to cost? I think thats what I remember...

What for?? Synthetic tranny fluid would probably be better for a racing application, for normal use, normal tranny fluid is fine, change it every 50,000 miles and you'll stay out of the transmission shop.

Mbowen thats because yours is a galant. The 4T80e is the biggest trans on the market still. I guarantte you if I drove that thing every day that whole transmission wouldnt last more than 20k. It's that bad. Will you be replacing that in that car? I would put it into the guardrail for ya if you arent

A guarantee from Steven, about transmissions no less... Now there's a valuable item. Where do you get that the 4T80-E is the biggest trans on the market? I bet there are many RWD trannies that are physically larger than it in cars and certainly in trucks. And why not put your car into a guardrail then? You've said many times the tranny is shot. You said you want another car. Plus you know it's so big that you could crash it and be just fine, unlike some little Galant. You could probably still eBay the spoiler and the back half of the body kit afterwards... On topic, I tend to stick with ACDelco fluid for transmissions also. I imagine synthetic is fine, but I figure why chance it. Tranny fluid does more than just lubricate, so I stick with what was made for the tranny.

lol Bob. I ment its the biggest GM FWD trans makes. Oh and about the other stuff I used to say...yeah yeah...i was immature back then but pretty sure in a compact car like that you would be creamed in a severe crash. I already got another car anyway heh, just trying to decide if i'm going to keep it. Probably not, but i had a ball in it.
*EDITED* Steven, why don't you keep your rude comments about other people's cars to yourself. If you dont' have anything positive to say, or helpful, please keep it to yourself.
-Thanks! [/color]

The coolest stuff ever is Lucas transmission fix. I put a bottle of it in all of my cars no matter what the mileage is when i get them. The stuff just makes your tranny glide into gears. Love it a lot.

Love it a lot. I've used their fuel additive, in hopes of improving my fuel mileage. Presumably (combined with several other fixes I enacted on the Galant), I brought it from 18 mpg combined, 23 steady highway to around 23 combined, 28 steady highway. Seemed to work very well. Unfortunately, I also tried their oil additive to try and solve my worsening piston ring degradation problems. It didn't make any noticeable difference, but at $9/bottle, their products are affordable.
