Anyone know the GM part number for the lower transmission cooler hose? Mine is loose and leaks at the transmission. It leaks at the quick connect fitting. The parts list elsewhere on this site is great but it doesn't appear to have the part listed.
I was doing the throttle body cleanout and noticed the front of the trans was caked with trans fluid. It does not appear to be leaking badly so I can order online. Rock Auto doesn't have it listed. OEHQ.com doesn't have it. GMPartsDirect doesn't list it.
Anyone know the part number or where I can find one?
Thanks. Oh...um...2001 4.0L w/dual booster rockets

I should have given this thread a title like "Free Beer". Not drawing many hits.
So, someone tell me that a GM dealer will have this part. Maybe I'm overreacting but I've called a few places, and the response I get is not encouraging. All of the GM dealers but one are only open weekdays. The one that was open, laughed and said we are no longer a GM dealership. Gee, maybe you should correct your Yellow Pages listing.
I'm starting to wonder if buying an Olds was such a good idea. Someone slap me!

A dealer should have any part. I can't give you the part number because I don't have a parts guide. I'm not sure anyone does. They used to sell bootleg versions on eBay, but I guess eBay cleaned it up because they aren't there anymore.
It's typical that dealer part departments aren't open on the weekend, just the sales department.

Thanks. I needed that. I am a little impatient. I am a bit concerned about the leak. The nut on the fitting is tight but there is this spring clip that holds the hose to the nut. The aluminum pipe portion of the hose wiggles and is not snug. I think over time this has worn the seal and it has been leaking slowly for some time. Trouble is you can't see it from the top and there are no spots under the car. I feel good that I found this before a significant amount of trans fluid was lost.
Anyone else have this problem?

All the local ex-Oldsmobile dealerships' parts departments work banker's hours. So I emailed GMPartsDirect.com. The Internet Sales Director, Zack, was kind enough to provide me with the part numbers.

Parts arrived today. Ordered a new lower trans cooler hose, fitting, PCV valve, fuel filter and the lube kit for the intermediate steering shaft. The hose is a different design, perhaps due to the trouble I have had with leakage. Instead of a 'quick-connect' fitting it is a more traditional crimp-type fitting with a nut to tighten it.

So, now I gotta do that this weekend. Hey, any issues with using Simple Green to degrease the outside of the transmission housing?

Hey, any issues with using Simple Green to degrease the outside of the transmission housing? Make sure it's diluted Simple Green, not the spray bottles that are full strength. And make sure to rinse it off really well. Simple Green can stain and etch. It's lifted paint off shelves of mine.

I replaced the lower trans cooler yesterday. Evidently, Delco or GM redesigned the hose connections and did away with the quick-connect at the transmission end. Quick-connect = quick leak. Basically, as the engine/trans deflects relative to the radiator the rubber part of the hose is supposed to take the stress of the motion. In my case, the quick-connect fitting took it to the point of wearing and eventually leaking. This hose takes cooled trans fluid from the heat exchanger on the driver's side of the radiator and returns it to the transmission. The fitting at the radiator was a beeyach to get to. All is well now. Thanks to all for your concern. Some photos after the replacement. This is with the air filter assembly removed. I should have take some before photos.
