Hello. Just a little intro... Bought 01/95 aurora with 102k miles on it two weeks ago. It is imported from Florida to Estonia in Europe last year (hope I don’t get banned for not being from NA ). Black interior is in pretty good condition, so far seems also technically OK (trans is freshly rebuilt). Exterior is not so good, soon to be repainted. Had done some minor repairs myself, nothing too special. Just regular?? nonworking lumbar support/doorlock switch on passenger door, trunk opener, some radio issues and so on. Absolutely enjoyed doing that, haven’t had to do this kind of things for six year, since sold my first love (’84 BMW 728) and having then brand new nomatterwhattypeofacar;D. Now having big expectations about comfortability of my first american car, hope she serves well as a daily driver for me. So far I am happy… VERY happy… Ilmar

Welcome eurora! I believe our first european member? Not counting kobalt who, although from Poland, resides in NJ.
I would be most interested in the story of how and why you purchased a used car from Florida. Is there a large market for imported American used cars in Eastern Europe? How were you able to find the car (internet I assume) and how did you arrange shipping? Were there any import problems? Give us the story, it sounds like it may be interesting.

Importing American cars to Europe is getting more and more common. My girlfriend's dad ships cars all over the US. On his last trip he was delivering 3 classics from South Dakota to Florida to be shipped to Germany. I know that he has been doing it more and more often as of late.

Welcome aboard eurora, Hope you like this Aurora community, you will find lots of good info for your Aurora. Thought I let you know, I'm putting together a Custom Indiglo Gauges pre-order for the Classic Aurora. You can find more detailed information at the website below. www.speedhut.com/15orders_el_detail.asp?auto_number=75&bhcp=1No one else in the web or in the other side of the world has them available for the Classic Aurora 1995-1999, so we in the pre-order would be the very first people to own a set of these gauges. Thanks, Javi. [glow=red,2,300]Javi.[/glow]

Welcome to ACNA Ilmar. I am certain the Aurora will not dissapoint you as power and comfort is what this car is all about. You will find that the V8 motor/transmission is trouble free when maintained properly. Send some pictures!

Welcome Ilmar. We are happy to have you with us. I am sure you will love your Aurora just like you did the old BMW.
I guess this means ACNA is going global. Shall we rename ACNA to ACotW? <------- guess what that means ;D

Wow, what a warm welcome, thank you friends. As about a story… well, you asked it ;D. Actually I didn’t imported her myself, but couple of guys who do it for living. They used this themselves in Fort Lauderdale area for short, I think, since some problems with transmission occurred. Then they sent Aurora together with some other cars over here and rebuild tranny. So it was here already when I wanted it . But as I heard, shipment only is as an average 1200 USD per car if two in container. Somewhat sad is, that in EU, if you want new American car, you have to choose between I think about four brands only who sell them here. They have to have a type approval for each model. Oldsmobile’s (nor Buick’s and many more) do not have it. So, if you like to own Oldsmobile here, you only allowed for pre1997 production year (or pay biig money to get type approval for your car only). As told, I haven’t had American cars jet, but had dream about I gen Toronado for awhile. Still think it is one of the most beautiful cars ever built, and hopefully sometime I can afford one of them. Even joined to Toronado mail list back then and though I had nothing to say there, enjoyed very much these guys passion and how they helped each other. Maybe that’s where from my special feel about Oldsmobile come . ... cofee break....Couple years ago there was on sale then only aurora in Estonia, but asked price was senseless. Anyway, that was enough for me to be an appetizer and lock my mind . We have web-community here about American iron, with market area. Now, in desperate need for a more comfortable ride I remembered that in last summer someone tried to sell Aurora here with getting no replies. I contacted him, car still waited for me and so on… now it’s MINE … My plans with this beauty are simple – to look as natural as possible. No custom rims, no custom stereo units (though need rebuilding it, as we use even frequencies here)etc. At least now. I think designers have done beautiful job with it, no need to customize. I get a lot attention even now.

I couldn’t even tip in English so fast as you all reply to me…I cant do it on flight… ;D At first – there’s no need to change a name of a board because of a one bad apple… me: . And you, isnibs, surprised me a lot. When I wrote to the message board on the other side of earth, I didn’t expected to meet here someone with so pure Estonian name. Definitely give my best wishes to Liisa. As for spare parts, that’s a good question … I forgot to buy wipers in capitol city, when I purchased car… in my hometown it took about five shops to find anything we MANAGED to fit … But all over situation is not so bad, we have some part dealers specialised on American cars (not in my town). On our 3,5hoursX4hours country it’s not important, where exactly they locate. Important is that they can deliver all you need. Hi, Custom88, I don’t think I will start to compare Aurora to BMW. It’s not my intention. Even if I had some tech problems back then, still have only positive memories about this time. Just now I am ready for emotions Aurora can give. BTW, thinking of it, maybe just memories about relatively big and comfy bmw pointed me after years of driving Peugeot to find something big and comfortable again. That would be a nice connection between them.

Eurora, if you need a radio (or do you just have to make yours work on the different frequencies) there were a couple at a salvage yard here that might work for you and they were not too expensive ($75.00 US). Maybe we in NA can help find a paart or two if that is legal over there.
