3 years ago my dad was on the market for a new family car. there were lots of options but i thought it was best for him to get an aurora. i thought it was the best car for the money and he had had 2 oldsmobiles before (88 and something else).
he got it and was extremly happy. in the 3 years since he's had it here's spent $400 on it. he replace the rotors which were pretty worn and the transmission fluid, gasket and filters. his was just about 200,000 km which was actually one of the lower milages i could find.
i really like that car too, i wouldn't have suggested it if i didn't. today i picked one up for myself. it was $7,500 CAD (~6000 USD) and had 140,000 km on it. it's just like my dads, 98 as well. runs smooth and quiet. when you floor it, it takes off. i love it and hope i can keep it for a long time.
i'm sure i'll have to do some work on it, especially considering it's over 7 years old now but i do hope that this forum will help me in that regards.
i look forward to reading about the fun and not so fun times you guys have with yours.
thanks for having me.

Welcome! You mentioned kms, where abouts are you located? i live in ottawa ontario and bought it from a dealership here. i plan on doing a fun trip to toronto (500km one way) in this baby in a few weeks. i read that you could check the door to see if it had "v" rated tires for the autobahn package. guess what, mine does! it seems to have every option available from the factory. for $7500 i'd be hard pressed to find any other car with this level of luxury or performance. is there a service manual that you guys would recommend? something that's as simple as possible would be nice. thanks.

You wont find any "easy to use" manuals for the G-body vehicles (Riviera, Aurora) you need a Factory Service Manual, and try to find one that is year specific. A manual for a 95 Aurora wont be as complete as one for 97. Ebay is your best bet.

this blueish green colour, i've heard of this colour referred to as "bmw boston green". i don't really care for the colour. it doesn't look bad at all but i think when i get some cash, i might take it to a highly recommended body shop nearby and get the colour changed. either a dark blue or that factory pearl white colour. the paint does have some small bruses and chips. i really don't want this rusting so i might get that done sooner than later. i took a bunch of pictures of it today, just for insurance reasons this was right after a heavy rainstorm. www.rserve.biz/cars/aurora.jpg

Looks Like somebody left the sunroof open? it was actually closed at the time but the picture makes it seem open. oh i love that sunroof! the garage door opener that's built in is nice too. there's very little in this car that i don't like.

Welcome roop. The only manuals that are available are the factory set. The factory service manual can be gotten directly from www.helminc.com or you can go here . You can always try ebay too! Good luck ;D

Hey roop! You can get the color codes by looking under the spare tire cover in the trunk. It's hard to tell in pictures, but it's likely Dark Green (Dark Caribe Metallic) 38/WA105D, or Medium Dark Teal (Majestic Teal Metallic) 43/WA272C, or Medium Green (Medium Sea Green Metallic) 42/WA210C. Look for the 105, 272, or 210 numbers.
