Hello ACNA, My name is Matthew and I'm 16 years old. I just happen to be a lucky kid because I found myself in an Oldsmobile family. We have 2 - 2001 Auroras, one with 132,000+ miles and the other with 54,000+ miles. Our "family" car is the 2003 Silhouette which has 36,000+ miles. We've also owned an older Silhouette and an Intrigue. My gramps has a 1996 Aurora which has 54,000+ miles. As you can see, it's an Oldsmobile family to the bone. Yes, I will brainwash my kid. I was pretty devastated when I found out they were going to stop making the Olds line. Yea, we're nerds. Air five!! Anyways, I've been pretty obsessed with these Auroras. I'm so happy to be able to drive the 132,000+ plus one, it's red by the way. And I do plan on running it till it explodes. The other Aurora is black just in case you wanted to know. The Silhouette is red also. Another thing, I'm a huge fan of the Gen 2 Aurora. Hate those Gen 1s. :yuk: Can't say I'll post a whole bunch here at the moment but, who knows. More power to the Aurora. It's good to know you got a car that can smoke about 75% of your classmates to next week. And the fact that it's a luxury car, that's super comfortable, is another win for this teenager. Thank god for the Oldsmobile Aurora. May it's short life be a legacy for all cars.

Welcome to the club! Glad to hear you've been raised around such quality automobiles. ;D Another thing, I'm a huge fan of the Gen 2 Aurora. Hate those Gen 1s. :yuk: Hey now, you better watch it... us Classic owners outnumber you 2nd-genners by at least 2 to 1.

I've just never been a fan of the body style. But my hate extends to the Gen 2s also because my dad has a stupid low profile spoiler on his and I hate it. If only my Aurora was black. Boy, it would be sexy then. Rar!!! Lol.

hey john...welcome aboard i must say its great to see someone as young as yourself actually enthusiastic about Oldsmobiles!!!! i have owned nothing else since i got my drivers license many years ago(i am a little older than you!!!) and its good that many of us carry on the legacy of such a fine nameplate. i am however, surprised that you so dislike the Classic 1st gen Auroras being that they are so representative of true Oldsmobile performance and style but glad to meet you anyway!!!!

I seem to be somewhat confused by your statements. How are you be "Oldsmobile to the bone" when you say 1st gens are "yuk"? You stated that you "hate" 1st gens and later stated you "hate" 2nd gens. You are quite liberal with such a strong word (hate). Is the body style the only reason why you "hate" it? You said you are a "huge fan of the Gen 2 Aurora" and then said "my hate extends to the gen 2 also." So which is it? Do you like it or not? And is it safe to assume that all of us Oldsmobile owners are "nerds" Please clarify your statement, Sir.

The low profile spoiler, I don't like it. The 2nd Gen with no spoiler I love. It's my pride and joy. The 1st Gen I don't like because of the body style. Yes, it is the pride of Oldsmobile but, it just seems a bit too boxy compared to the Gen 2. I like how the Gen 2 is sleek. My dad agrees with me but, he don't really care about the looks. He just likes how it rides.

Welcome to ACNA Though I find your anti-classic remarks rather insulting, I respect your right to your opinion. That not withstanding, it sounds like you definitely have your act together for a 16 y/o. Your proper use of grammar and punctuation, combined with your love for (most) Oldsmobiles, shows you're a good guy in my book BTW - Is your user name a "Die-Hard" reference or your real name? -Shawn

Hehe. Nothing against the classic Aurora. I'd take the classic Aurora over any other car, but then again, I'd take a 2nd Gen Aurora over a classic one. Either way, I'm still driving the finest piece of American manufacturing.

Well we are certainly entitled to our preferences. I love all Auroras equally. Nice shots of your Aurora Custom88.

I was just talking to my dad and he was thinking of buying this 1999 Aurora Oldsmobile at this one local dealer. It has 90,000+ miles on it and it's around like 7,000 dollars. That would make 3 Auroras in our household and 4 Oldsmobiles if he bought it. I like the thought of that.

That would be cool, I didn't like the classic so much at first, either, but it really has grown on me. It is a really nice car!

hey, the more oldsmobiles the merrier i always say!!! i dont know how you think the classics are "boxier" and the second gens are "sleeker" i think its the other way around, being as the classics are longer and have a more aerodynamic styling...anyway, you are definitely entitled to your opinion, and anyway, i LOVE both cars

I also like some of the features that the newer ones have. And it's more modern and I'm part of the younger stupider generation. Hehe. I bet ya if we owned a classic one I'd like it a lot more. But right now, all I got to go on is the appearance. Yea, what can I say? I'm 16. Hehe.

The Gen 1's grow on you at this forum. I think they're gorgeous but I didn't want to trade in an ailing '96 car for a '99. It wasn't drastic enough an upgrade.
Oh and Dan did you notice that spoiler on the black one after the link sure looked familiar . . .

The other day I saw a light green Aurora; first generation. It was just absolutely freaking sexy. Sorry first gen-ers.

First gens have a more quality and upscale look and feel to them imho. The second gens are more mainstream to me but I am sure they are much more trouble free as well.

Welcome to the board. I remember when I was 16, things that I thought never made a whole lot of sense. But your opinion is exactly that, your opinion. The 1st generation Aurora's are simply what they are called "Classic's" the body is not boxt by any means and the body rolls and lines are seameless throughout the vehicle, they can not be duplicated.
I do agree with you about the spoilers on the 2nd generation Aurora's though. They just do not look right to ME, but once again that is my opinion and others may feel that the spoiler is good looking.
