If I go to Autozone and pick up a new shift knob for my 01 aurora (that supposedly just pulls off) do I need to get a certain kind? I wouldn't think that a screw-on model would work. Suggestions?

Please, for all our sakes, don't get one from Autozone. Those are $.31 ricer parts made in Chinese factories by the boatload. There's a reason they cost $9.99. Check the other thread out for info on Buick Lucerne factory replacement burlwood shift knobs (the Lucerne uses the SAME stock leather shifter as the Aurora). $77 is not bad for a stick of real burlwood. I know BMW burlwood shift knobs are in the $300 range.
Cheap, chrome-plated plastic is very unbecoming in an Aurora.
