so I went to adjust my center dash vent toward me and all the plastic ribs on the inside of it literally shattered when i moved it. Has anyone else had their center dash-vent fall apart just by regular use? It's totally useless now.

The vents do seem very flimsy, you shouldn't be surprised it broke on you. I guess I just don't adjust them enough for them to break in my car... yet.

I adjusted that vent only once, back in the spring of 2001, when I first used the A/C in my 2001.

Has anyone else had their center dash-vent fall apart just by regular use? It's totally useless now. This seems fairly common (if you look at third-party reviews on Edmunds and that one website with the yellow trim that I can't recall right now). I'm surprised we haven't heard of it more on here. They really are very complicated, very cheaply-made vents. IMO they really are the biggest let-downs on the interior of the second-gen.

88 - are you getting the warranty to cover it? Seems iffy (as if, negligence or something), of course you can argue that it's cheaply made but it seems like the thing they'd argue against.

to replace the vent on the far passenger side, you will need to first remove the outer trim cover on the passenger side. Then, you need to remove the right side, center, instrument panel cover. Then simply remove the vent.

Those things are terrible.
I've been looking at Intrigues lately, and about 75% of them have broken vents of the same design. It's just a huge flaw in Oldsmobiles from that period...

Is this exclusive problem to the second gen. I better not touch mine just in case.
