Does anyone have any pictures or videos of an Aurora with the 4.6 swap. I would really like to see one of these.

I understand the mechanical aspects of the 4.6 swap, I have read about every thread. I am looking forward to doing one myself. I would just like to see some video or pictures of one of these. Preferably videos.

Aurorabrain helped very little, I was busy with other things that week. Auroraguy is very competent working on Auroras, he had an Aurora before I did. In fact, he did 2 Aurora engine jobs that week. I just couldn't take a week off of work to help.

I'm willing to finance a trip up to Toronto for the Brain to do the swap in my car ;D
My brother in law just acquired a hoist. No engine though...at least yet.

Aurorabrain, AuroraGuy, or SpeedNeon, I have a 4.6 and tranny waiting to be installed. Is it pretty much a direct swap (the engine)? I don't want to get in over my head if it involves alot of fabbing and stuff.

The only visible difference is the front valve cover, it doesn't say anything.
BTW Aurorabrain and Auroraguy live at the same house. In Cadillac, MI I guarantee we'd do the work cheaper and better than any regular shop.

i am considering putting the 4.0 front v-cover back on. it looks so bland and i am tiring of being hassled to get my oil changed.... AH SIR THEY NEVER MADE THE OLDS AURORA WITH 4.6.
thats right folks speed does not change his own oil. except when its an emergency or a special change. even us mechanics dont do everything to our cars, for some its big things, for me its the tedious tasks.
heck i barely change oil at the job period.

they sound exactly the same randy. you will not hear a difference at all. they run like a scalded dog but sound like a stock aurora.

The only visible difference is the front valve cover, it doesn't say anything. Speed said "i am considering putting the 4.0 front v-cover back on. it looks so bland and i am tiring of being hassled to get my oil changed.... " Not trying to knock anyone. But when everyone just wants to see some pictures, you are talking about putting your old front valve cover on. Sounds suspicious. Speed, you know what you would say to someone in this position! And like I said I am not trying to make anyone mad, I am just calling it as I see it. Pics, videos, please.

( i could almost hear the gasps of the forum when i read the above post) after being called out on this board numerous times and posting pic than walking away unscathed everytime, i am considering not responding to this. even my old lady said "again?!?!" for some reason a few folks on this board will not let a " young mechanic and his old tools" alone........ i will ponder responding and you'll be the second to know. because i will be the first. btw: what would i say if i was in your position? i just wanna know?

No big deal. Got any pics or videos. Preferably videos. Like Aurorabrain said the only difference is the front valve cover. A simple 0-60 would suffice. My '97 non-Autobahn with 190,000 can do it in 7.5 seconds, I would like to see what a 4.6 can do. Looking forward to some pics or videos!!

Speed you were once a sceptic of the 4.6 swap yourself, just to remind you. As seen below. I am not knocking you I have read almost every thread you have posted and I think you are a genius at what you do, and I thank you for all the informative threads you have posted. I am not doubting your mechanical ability, you obviously know way more about cars then I. We all share the common bond of loving Oldsmobile Auroras, and for that we are all friends. I apoligize if I offended you I just took the facts as I seen them and thought I would express my feelings about them. And don't think I am trying to kiss a** either, I could really care less. I am an honest person and this is how I really feel. But, I am not a skeptic I believe everything you have said. I was just hoping to see a video of one of these in action, it is as simple as that. Hence the title of this thread:4.6 Swap, Pics and Videos? Cool? "i agree with the big talk no action. i am waiting to see the action. start the action and all nay-sayers will be silenced. as a professional tech i have heard all types of big engine talk. LS this and that, turbo this and that, super this and that. and after building my 2.4 turbo neon, i know that modifying a car is a very complex undertaking. its was easy to stuff the SRT4 internalled 2.4 motor in the car. but when you start breaking stuff, stuff that usually never breaks stock. you realize how much time went into building even a cheap econobox to be reliable every day. its those million mile test runs, and abuse sessions that ready a car for daily use. i admire your zeal, even your tech talk. but until you drive it everyday and smile when it gobbles up the road, and than cry when it suffers driveabilty problems or mechanical malfunction and failure. all your talk is just that. it took me 2 years of smiles and cries to get my neon right, a simple econobox. with all the systems on the rora, i can only imagine how long it will take to iron out the bugs. and i honestly believe that to call this swap sucessful everything, and i mean everything must work as intended. this is a luxury car. and i am sorry but a non-functioning system or a lit indicator light is unacceptable. i want my DIC working. A/C ice cold. ABS working. a ride to accompany all this new found power, as power is nothing without control. i want to toss the keys to my ol' lady and not have to sweat about a thing. i want a turn key rora, as if GM made it that way, as the case with the aurorabrain brake upgrade. unchanged pedal feel, same ease of modulation, just alot more braking power when you want it. achieve those results and others will follow. i know i have built a total of 3 SRT4 powered neons, for other neon.org members. ok everybody this thread is getting a little out of control.... It's a simple thread,,,,,,,if you have pics or video of a 4.6 get on and POST them...... If you DON'T have any pictures or videos stay off this thread cause that is what it's about........... So clean it up a little And just post some videos of A 4.6 LETS SEE THEM......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's that simple....
