Cmon guys, where are the pics of this conversion. If I had done one I would be posting pics all over the place and wheres that 3800 supercharged swap I have been hearing about? For now, my car runs fine and i'm debating what i'm going to do. I have all the parts for the 3.8 swap, but haven't had the time to do anything with it. The 4.6 swap in my friends car runs so good i'd almost just do that because it'd be easier. I was given a 80k 4.6 for free that needs head gaskets, so i may just sell my 3.8 parts. The 3.8 swap would require me to take a week off of work also, which isn't a good thing for me to do right now.

Hmm. Interesting.
Also, is it more beneficial to get the 300hp 4.6 or the 275hp 4.6? Or does it not really matter.

The 300 HP 4.6 would be the one to use if the Aurora that gets that engine has the 3.71 axle. Cadillac always used the 3.71 gear ratio with that engine.

If i decide to do the 4.6 swap instead of the 3.8 swap i'm thinking i might buy some cams from chrfab and see if i can't get some custom programming done. Auroraguy's 4.6 is the 275 hp one, but it runs exceptionally well with the 3.71 ratio. We are looking for someone to try the 300hp version and see if it has the low end power the 275hp one has.

I have driven a seville sls and an sts. The sts did feel like it had slightly less low end power. The sls felt more responsive a slower speeds. I think the 275hp version makes more horsepower and torque below 5000 rpm.

Saturday I will be attending the annual www.migpc.com event at www.midmichmotorplex.com and hopefully the following day Auroraguy and myself will go back to get some 1/4 mile times with the 4.6 Aurora. This is weather permitting. If anyone wants to meet there on Sunday it would be a great time to get some time slips for the 1/4 mile performance thread.

Well i have the 3.48 ratio or whichever is the base. I suppose the 275hp one would be better for me because the torque would come on faster.

Well, just got back from the MI grand prix club race day. Not too bad of a turnout, it's sad that state Aurora clubs aren't larger. A couple nights ago Auroraguy and myself went out late to get some video of the 4.6 Aurora running with my other friends modded GTP. After returning we realized that the 4.6 is going to need head gaskets before any runs at the dragstrip take place. To put it lightly it's bad to see coolant sprayed all over under the hood after a 0-125mph run. So much for a $850 100k 1999 Deville engine.

I think the 275hp version makes more horsepower and torque below 5000 rpm. The STS has better gearing to offset the lack of torque. It has 3.71:1 diff ratio vs the 3.11:1 of the SLS. The STS doesn't make peak power until like 6,700 rpm though, which I don't believe our PCM's would allow. I want to see the 2nd gen Northstar swap. There was a time I would have definitely considered doing that if GM had offered some kind of aftermarket solution.

( i could almost hear the gasps of the forum when i read the above post) after being called out on this board numerous times and posting pic than walking away unscathed everytime, i am considering not responding to this. even my old lady said "again?!?!" for some reason a few folks on this board will not let a " young mechanic and his old tools" alone........ i will ponder responding and you'll be the second to know. because i will be the first. btw: what would i say if i was in your position? i just wanna know? Hey Speed, too bad you decided not to respond to this. If I had a 4.6 in my Aurora the video would be up in 5 seconds. Do you even own an Aurora? The only picture of an Aurora you have posted is of the temp gauge. All you have is words, and I don't believe you. If I am wrong, then post a video.

Yep I just put a 6.0 with twin turbo in my new aurora and had it converted to rear wheel drive pushing 750hp to the rear wheels. I dont have the time to take any pics though so you have to take my word for it. Okay you guys know I am just kidding. Speed and brain obviously have good reasons for not sharing pics or videos at this time.

I think you guys are being a little too judgemental. There is a pic posted of Auroraguy95s engine in his car. I have video of him running a 13.4sec GTP and keeping up to an extent. I haven't converted it and posted it yet. The problem of posting is that it takes time. I'm the one that would be doing it because i have more PC knowledge than he does. My time/work schedule sucks the big one. I work 45-50 hours/week at my normal job, and i work on computers when i'm too tired to work on cars. Right now my car repair list is as follows. I do not work on cars at the dealer where i work, car repair is what i do at home. 1997 Grand Prix GTP... needs engine(rod knock, squealing, no oil pressure) and supercharger 1998 Grand Prix GTP... needs transmission because 3rd gear is in the pan 1999 Grand Prix GT... Needs engine, oil filter gasket blew and was driven without oil=rod knock 1999 Grand Prix GTP... 13.4 sec car, 130k, transmission failing because of it, have new trans waiting 1997 Aurora 150k... very big job...head gaskets, total engine rebuild, all bearings, rings etc. 2001 Aurora... needs rear suspension work, ISS clunk, SES light, brakes, rear shocks 1998 Aurora... both serp belts, front struts, brakes all around, general lookover 2002 Grand Prix SE... Cust was told needs trans from other shop, runs like crap though so i have to look at it 1998 Seville STS.... being dropped off in 10 days for head gaskets My '97 Aurora... not even going to start on what it needs I work on a lot of the same types of cars. This is the list of things that i currently need to do, it doesn't include the cars i've worked on in the past week, or random brake jobs or fluid changes that i do inbetween larger jobs. There is only so much time in a day, and the importance of making money for me outweighs the importance of posting video or pictures for you guys. This is what Auroraguy95s car ran last Friday night at the local 1/8th mile drag strip. The MPH got ripped off partially. When i ran a 15.15 in the quarter it was a 9.75sec 1/8th and a 2.25 60'.
