I am in dire need of new tires. I just hit 40,000 miles, and still have the original tires, and being the lead-foot I am, you can imagine how little tread is left. Before I go out and spend $500 for brand new tires, I thought I'd see if anyone had any in fairly new condition that would fit my car. 225 60 R16 I am in Minnesota, local pickup would be great, otherwise shipping shouldn't be too big of a pain in the a$$.

I'd recomment BF Goodrich Traction TA H rated. If you have a Costco nearby, $86/tire installed. Rated #1 at tirerack.com and I'm very pleased. Option is to have local Discount Tire/America's tire match their website pricing (tires.com)

hey!, how's it goin'? i'm also from minnesota, around the Taylors falls area (about an hour north of the twin cities) the place i got my tires from (used), is a place called pilquist's they're in the Stillwater area, from the twin cities go east on 94 till ya get to 95, go north probably around 5 miles or so and it'll be on your left, if you hit Bayport, you've gone too far, i got fairly new tires for 15 bux a piece. i had to get 225-60-16's cause the 235-60-16's aren't as common. but definitely check them out, all tires are $15 each. tires plus should install them for about $60-70 mounted and ballanced

I have had those BF Goodrich Traction T/As on my car... but didn't rotate for 20k miles so the front ones are shot and the rears almost perfect Anyway, very good tires, bad in the snow though... but that's just their width. Here in Maine you need serious snow tires if you want to make it anywhere...

I'll send out a caution on buying used tires... I started that trend when I first bought the Aurora, and had nothing but problems. 6 or 7 flat/damaged tires within 2 months!! And of course the tires always "tested" fine at the shop, but had no guarantee seeing as how they were used. $20 for a new used tire every time I went back, plus $7 to balance it. I finally ponied up for a new set of Bridgestone Turanza's, and haven't had a single problem.

Khumos are the answer. Check the owners comments for different brands on this car over at tiresplus or something like that. I followed their advice and at less than half the price of others available. But I don't recommend them for the price. Its their performance. Ride, noise, handling, especially where you frequently find standing water such as in Savannah, GA. So they handle the heat good too. Can't say about snow country.

Also I hate Generals. Lousy traction wet or dry. Badyear shafted me years ago so I've haven't bought any of theirs in 40 years. Unfortunately some vehicles had them on and that didn't change my opinion. Firestone also shafted me with their 500's 20+ years ago even though they had a recall. Said mine weren't included yet I had 3 of 4 separate within 6 mos at 20K miles. I don't buy theirs anymore either.

I'm about to replace the G's tires before I head off to school for the year. I'm replacing stock-sized cheapies (the car currently has Futura-brand tires, sold at Pep-Boys auto parts stores, with some odd wear on them from 30k miles of misalignment), so anything will be an improvement. I've been watching the specials on the TireRack.com, and I've narrowed it down to two choices, both in size P195/60R15: Continental TouringContact AS (S-rated), and Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus (H-rated). The Connies are $40/each to buy and the Dunlops are $56/each, both with a $10/tire mounting-and-balance fee. I'm just not sure if I should go for the lower price and slight traction and wear advantages of the Connies or the higher-performance and better-sounding Dunlops. I also checked up on the Aurora. TireRack wants $148/each for the Michelin Energey MXV4 OE replacement tires... Thank God those Michelins last a long-a** time!

Dang, you are putting my 175/65-14's on the Nissan to shame!! Nothing like paying less than $50 per tire for new tires...

Go to www.michelin.com they have a great system to recommend excellent tires. Then buy them at Sam's Club!
