it's the same block, the main thing that is different is the bore. not bad, motor trans, and all electronics with only 40k on it all.

Yeah the trans is the same which is a plus. 40k miles..oh boy. If it were as simple as removing the 4.0 and dropping in the 4 6 i would probably buy it right now.

I think there would be quite a few problems though. I cant remember, but didnt someone try doing this?? Perhaps at the edmunds forum or something?
The labor is what would trash the project. I cant afford the $1800 x 2 labor it would take. But i can dream about the +50hp all day. After all the aurora started out as a dream..

Of course, for much less than the $1500 with shipping for that motor, you could just put a 50-shot of nitrous on your existing motor. Then if you blow it up, go for a 4.6L...

yeah, but that little bit of extra money would buy me 80k less miles on the engine and transmission, no misfire, plus the +50hp

oh *******, i didnt see the trans was included in that. That is freakin nuts. only $1000 sigh. Well my engine works perfectly fine now so why would i just take out a good working motor. 50 more ponies would make the car a rocket sedan though.

The ticket is to buy the Ex. Warranty, then put the nitrous in.

But there are probably a lot of other hidden costs in replacing the engine/trans - like you'd need bigger exhaust too, right? And there must be a ton of others... different mounts perhaps, who knows what else.

I think there would be quite a few problems though. I cant remember, but didnt someone try doing this?? Perhaps at the edmunds forum or something? No, noone actually did it, but there was serious debates. Whether or not the stock PCM could adjust enough for the diff. air/fuel ratios, rpms (though they're the same stroke), what about in 95's that don't MAFs, easlier or harder? Would using the STS's PCM could mess up other Aurora functions? Would DIC work at all? What other non-engine functions does the PCM control? etc Someone parked a classic next to a STS and said the mounts and the way the engine sat looked different. I don't remember the year, but I strongly think it was an older one, so the different platforms might play a role. Therefore, you'd have to look strictly for a 98 or 99 STS mill.

Good night, sure should work. Those engines were built in the same factory and like someone said, the only dif is block size. The PCM may present a prob. though.
