Well, I finally got most of my new stereo stuff, so I need to regretfully sale my Bose stuff. Thought I'd post here first before I list them on ebay. I have the original Bose Head Unit. In great shape, all buttons and all lights work, no cracks in the face plate. Have the Bose amplifier. It has been, somewhat (about a year and a half), professionally renewed by www.carstereohelp.com. The restore itself was $330. Looking for much less. I also am taking interest to see the demand for the 12 disc changer. It works perfect even next to large subwoofers. Only thing wrong is that it only has 11 disc plates. Only came with 11 since I purchased the car. I believe they are cheap through a dealer. PM me an offer if your interested. I'll post pics tomorrow and probably list them on eBay, Thursday or Friday.

I'm interested in the amp... would it hook up to my non-Bose HU? What is the power output of it? And does the Bose HU have an internal amp on its own, or does it just send out an audio signal to the amp?

Well anythings possible. Route the front and rear channels into the amp then combine for the sub but, I really don't think that could be refitted to a non-Bose system. The amp is a 5-channel, front/rear/sub and I believe the HU isn't powered (to power speakers). The Bose system has front 6 1/2"s, rear 3.5" in the doors, and a 6.5" sub attached to the bottom of the rear deck in the trunk. I had to cut out the factory Bose sub box to fit mine. The changer will work, no problems.... For power output, I'd guess 25-50 watts rms? No idea to be honest.

The amp is a 5-channel, front/rear/sub... Okay, this answers the main question I had. Do you know the power output of those 4+1 channels, or is that the part you're not sure of? Sorry to complicate, I just didn't quite understand all of your answer to my first set of questions. What I'd like to do is get a 5-channel amp (i.e. your Bose) to power aftermarket speakers & a sub from my stock HU. If that's possible, then I'm interested! P.S. Your pics are HUGE and only a small portion of each one appears viewable on my screen. Could you reduce them in size a bit?

tahoesport, I gladly will sell them to you cheaper. Let me know what you want and make an offer.
scotty, the "I'm not sure part" includes the output of the amp and whether or not it would work with a non-Bose (any) Head Unit. For power output, to be perfectly honest, its probably not much if anymore then a non-Bose. I tried using the amp to power an aftermarket 8" sub and it didn't drive it hard at all. If you still wanted to, see if tahoesport could get the wiring diagram for the amp and see if the wires are just speaker wires and not data line wires or anything Bose specific. Or, I'll see if the Pac-Audio interface will work with non-Bose models (pretty sure it will).
P.S. I'll re-size them as soon I get back to my comp.

Alright, thanks for the clarification. It does look like a pretty small amp, and may just replace and stock HU power (as the non-Bose has) plus add the sub channel. I'd be trying to drive a 12" JBL sub also, so I should probably pony up for something bigger anyway.

Well, there's a slight story behind them. When I originally bought the Aurora, the amp needed to be rebuilt then. The previous owner had simply removed the speakers on the channels that were messing up. I quickly added Wally-World Pioneer speakers, had the amp rebuilt, then later, upgraded JL Audio speakers. I still have one front 6.5" and both rear 3.5". The right front 6.5" and the rear sub were gone when I purchased her. They say Bose on the back of the magnet on the factory tag. I was hoping for at least $100, but compared to ebay, how's $75 (shipped) for the amp sound?

That might be good enough? Considering its around 10 years old I dont think anyone would really spend more than that bud. Just my point of view, but if someone were to do that they could probably buy a newer amp from crutchfield (or ebay). At least try to get something half decent for it, since you spent all that getting it rebuilt. Did it sound any better after refurbish?

I just change the images to links. I will be postings these shortly on ebay. Sometime tomorrow.
Steven, yea, that's pretty much it. I'd like some type of return on the stuff. Everything works nice. Depending on what it's for, it could bring money. Just look at all the Bose Corvette stuff. They draw a nice premium. We'll see.

poor mushroom, your car has been so abused! How much did you get it for? I hope you didn't pay much at all.. you're always complaining about the things the previous owner did to her

A Classic Bose speaker wouldn't work in a second-gen, would it? I hear occasional odd noises issuing from the right rear Bose in our '01...

I hope you didn't pay much at all.. you're always complaining about the things the previous owner did to her I didn't get around to list the auctions till last night. Item numbers, 8027777878, 8027779559, and 8027783360 Yea, I'd loved to get a pampered one, but, its kinda like adopting a neglected dog. It takes work, but you build up so much love in the process. I paid $4950 for her on Nov. 11, 2002. There wasn't many locally at the time, now there's tons, and it was a toss up between mine and a 96 with less miles but was option-less and had some slight cosmetic issues. My full options won out. A Classic Bose speaker wouldn't work in a second-gen, would it? I hear occasional odd noises issuing from the right rear Bose in our '01... I really don't know much about the 2nd Gen Bose. If you know how to remove the door panels, I'd say check the wiring first, I'd had the clips come off speakers before, then switch the speaker with the left one, to see if it might be the amp/hu. I do have one rear 3.5" Bose speaker that I believe works. I'll take pics and check it when I get back home, in an hour or two.

No, it's completely dead, no movement at all.
What do you mean by rear deck? The classic Bose didn't have any (pressembly 6x9's) on the rear deck. Just a sub in the trunk.

Ah. Perhaps that's the difference. How many speakers in the Classic Bose? Second-gen Bose has 8...

7 depending on what you count as "speakers" but offically 7. 2 front tweeters in the foot well, 2 6.5" speakers in the doors, 2 3.5" speakers in the rear doors, and a 6.5" DVC sub in the trunk. Yeah, I guess there's a difference then. Also the amp mounts behind the rear seat on the 2nd Gen.

Indeed... I see the damn amp everytime I open the trunk. Since we got the car, the black plastic cover on the trunk-side of the rear seatback has been laying in the basement. Well, I tried for the first month or two to salvage it, but it fell down every single time I put it up (tried superglue, double-sided tape, black electrical tape, everything). Ah well, nobody else sees it.
Except for the twerp subordinate mobsters that occasionally ride back there, of course.

Yeah, when I took the car in for some service, they tore up the trunk plastic pieces for some reason. They couldn't get them back on... so they've all been sitting in the trunk, heh. Whatever. More room now

It seems as if Bose used the same or similar speakers in many different cars, GM or others, throughout the 90's. The latest speakers look vastly different than the older ones so I'm guessing the speakers from a classic would not work in the 2nd Gen. I'm only talking about actual speakers, not enclosures.
