I was surprised that our used 2003 still had the plastic cover for the front license plate area. It was lying unused in the trunk. Question is, how do I attach it? It seems to require a pair of pins or screws to hold it securely in place.

the hardware to attach mine was in my glove box. If not, you can get it from a GM dealer for cheap. I had a body shop install mine so I am not sure as to how exactly they do it..

Gotcha. The glove box only had the manual and some change--no hardware. I'll check out a GM dealer.

I ended up just using a large short bolt and washer. It hasn't fallen off yet! Mine had no hardware in the glove box, but the filler plate was in a plastic bag in the trunk. I believe the hardware comes from the dealer.

Get the Hardware from GM , yes its cheap and not only that its RATED OEM , made for outdoor as well, be it rivets or bolts , But i find that i use self tappers most of the time. You will find that alot of these kits come with a set of self tapper, you just turn them into the plastic.

Mine came with that plate unused still in the trunk.. and even the window sticker -- at 57k and two owners later. Unfortunately Maine requires the front plate

Man, those front plates are dreadful. Never could understand why, but, they must have their reasons.

Man, those front plates are dreadful. Never could understand why, but, they must have their reasons. I suppose if someone is exceeding the speed limit in reverse, the police would find the front plate handy.

I think the radar/laser detection has something to do with it - they often bounce it off your front plate.. especially on something like an Aurora But then again the law could be 100 years old for all I know. Maine still has a law that says we're not allowed to sell cars on Sundays, which is SO inconvenient! Sooo all the dealerships are closed and weekend car shopping is cut in half

Good law. That way I have a better chance of seeing them Sunday! :-)

Hi this is Bob in Indianapolis---I own (2) 2001 Auroras a 3.5 and a 4.0. We do not have the law here in Indy that requires a plate up front--I need 2 of these covers....Anyone interested in helping a guy out---it's just useless plastic to you? Let me know--thanks!!
