Does anyone know how or if there is a filler plate available to fill that gaping hole in the front of both my 4.0 and 3.5 2001's. If not anyone willing to manufacture something--I think this would look much better with body line being continuous. Thanks

Sweet---thanks for the picture---it looks awesome! How much did your body man charge you to paint it?

I'm not really sure because I had my spoiler installed and painted at the same time. The total price for all labor and materials on both items was $190. For JUST the filler plate I would venture a guess at around $40 maybe? Very little paint would be needed..

I guess none of you guys are required to have front plates in you Auroras, here in Illinois you have to have a front plate or you get a ticket.
Must be nice.

Yes, I'm required to have a front plate. And an emissions and tax sticker. Neither the 'vette nor Aurora have them, though.

no front plate is required in Michigan. however, my car was originally from Ohio and they do require plates there. probably the reason why my front bumper filler was missing when i bought it.

I have a filler plate that I would like to install.
My question, do I need to secure the plate with screws/bolts or can I just snap it into place?
Thanks, Tom

mine was installed at a body shop but I remember them having to use a screw of some kind to hold it on. You have to get under the car to get it on correctly. Your dealership might be so kind as to do this for free?

Your dealership might be so kind as to do this for free? Good luck with THAT! Also as a reminder, check your local traffic laws as Javi said... no front license plate would be a crappy reason to get pulled over and ticketed.

I used screws and nuts. Supposedly there's some kind of clip from GM, but I wasn't able to locate one or a part number. So I just did it myself with some thick short bolts and nuts.

guys....this really isn't that big of a job...the plate cover just slides into the spot and is secured by 2 screws in the back....it takes literally 30 seconds....body shops are different for what they charge so just go to a local shop and ask them how much. you could probably have it back in 2 days and for no more than $50 to have it painted. just my .02

Indeed they may very well do that for free - especially if you buy the part from them. I replaced an exterior door handle and the dealership body shop kindly painted it for F-R-E-E

I'm curious why your door handle needed to be replaced? Did the handle itself break, or was it a cosmetic problem? Just c urious because on the Riviera board I visit at times I've seen our door handles snap. I remember on the Riviera the handle would creak at times and just felt flimsy. The newer handles feel a bit more solid however.

I live in Nebraska and we are required to have a front plate. However, I have the cover in the trunk of my car wrapped in a towel. It's Black Onyx in color and would need to be refinished/painted (previous owner scratched it up a little/used it) I'd be willing to part with it for $10 + cost of shipping!

Not that it's a bad thing:
Is it me or does that filler plate seem to add a curve back into the nose of a Gen 2? That's not specific to 88's picture, I just think the curved angle on the filler plate makes the front end look bigger and rounder for some reason?

The mild crease that runs down the bumper continues into the plate cover. Since it's mild, the plate cover helps to accentuate it. I think the car looks much more complete with it. Front plates are pretty ugly.
