Based on the 2001/03, I would bring the engine up to maybe 4.2 liters, or 255 CID. I would also add variable valve timing, and possibly a 5 or 6 speed transaxle. AWD as an option is another thought. ___________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

Based on the options, I went with reduced electrical complexity. Doen't mean I couldn't go for more power (how about the 4.6L Northstar?) , but there just seems to be too many problems with this car and the power is OK even in stock trim. By Design, I assume you mean body style, suspension tuning, front wheel drive, etc.; not designing the subsystems better.
I'll bet ya money, marbles or chalk that we NEVER see Oldsmobile surface again. Oh well, just when they got it right, such a shame.

I guess I am the only one going for a new design, I’d love something that takes the 2nd gen slightly back to the 1st gen style, (exterior wise at least) and a headlight change, definite stock HIDs and something that stands out a little more, and as far as interior is concerned, I wouldn’t mind a stock navigation system… similar to the ones the final 500 had…

FYI, the nav system was available from 2002 on. I'm glad they didn't make it stock as I don't like them. 99% of the time I know where I'm going. They make things like climate control and radio adjustments more annoying. I'd like to see more power, but then maybe not. Maybe the 275 hp 4.6 with the 3.11 gearing. I wouldn't want the car to get crappy economy on the highway.

So far everyone has great answers. The best Combo for me based on what I've seen so far: 4.0L S/C Aurora V8 with about 350 hp 6 speed automatic Subaru based Awd system (Similar WRX STi) More 1st Gen Design theme Man, it would be great to see this materialize....oh well

Bleah, I'd rather have a 5-speed manual than a 6-speed auto. But I guess I couldn't have purchased it that way or my wife couldn't drive it (not that she does now). No way I'd want the extra 200+lbs of AWD either. But then I also prefer the harder-edged newer styling, so to each his own.

How 'bout a 05 Aurora based on a stretched version of the XLR platform. (basically a C6 vette underneath)
Would be nice to have a 6 spd man or auto rear mounted transaxle? Right?
