I was on my way home from work tonight at 9 PM and stopped at a stoplight when a bright yellow new bettle pulls up with radio and bass blaring, big porsche looking wing, and a fart can pulls next to me. They keep edging forward before the light turns green and looking over to my car. As soon as the light turns green the beetle lets out a little chirp as they take off and the words out of my mouth literally are "oh hell no." lol. I wasn't going to let this little riced out beetle merge into my lane. lol. I was quite surprised that the beetle was actually give me a slight run for my money. AFter I got to the speed limit of 55 I let off and I finally let the beetle cut in front of me.. at the next light I got into the right lane next to him and he yells out "wow man that car you have there has some awesome pull to it. My car's turbocharged and you still outran me! WHat you have under the hood." I just say, I have the small V6 engine. Too bad I don't have the V8 option huh? He just said "you don't really need it if yours is that quick." Then he waved as the light turned green again. Atleast he was a good sport about it.

( I figure you won cause he said so) But if it's ok to bust your bubble, the Turbo Beetle has 150hp. But it is almost half the weight, so you did good. You're becoming such an aggressive driver lately...I'm so proud (sniff, sniff).

Im proud too. Cant be conservative on the roads today. I am aggressive. Take turns really tight, ALWAYS floor it when merging on the highway or other situations like that. I yield to NO-ONE..... That should give you a good feel for the type of driver I am. But i am a very GOOD driver too.
I also like to "test" my steering wheel every day, by weaving across to the other side of road when nobody is coming etc...Letitroll said something about that when i was driving in carlisle i believe ;D Somebody did.
My front tires are already down to 75% tread and i drove them 3k miles.

Well, glad to hear you beat the guy Dan, or at least kept up (not sure how he can pull in front of you if you beat him). But also remember you didn't know it was a race, so you'd only do better the next bout. Other Dan, the New Beetle Turbo S has 180hp, and if it had the pimpy wheels and wing, it may have been that model. I think they made that up through 2004? However, the car is just over 3,000 lbs, and is an 8 second car (0-60 obviously, not an "8 second car"). But then those turbos can easily jack up the boost, so who knows what the guy was really running.

I've often wondered how long these little turbocharged engines last when they are driven hard every day. Read about the 180 hp 1.8 here. (Click on vwengines.)

So according to VW, a longer stroke than bore means there is more pressure on the compression stroke... Interesting. So two cylinders and pistons with a compression ratio that is the same will exert different pressure depending on whether one is shallow and wide and the other deep and narrow...

the beetle pulled infront of me because I stopped accelerating once I hit 55 MPH. I didn't want to speed. I had my fun, so i figured I'd let the poor little insect (bug) finally pull in front of me.

oh you guys will love this. i ran outta cat food and so i decided to go out and get a 30lb bag. as i'm out there i get to this nice 1 mile stretch and it's an 80km/h zone. this buick minivan starts tailing me and there are 2 totaly clear lanes. i move over to the right lane and he tries to pass me. i know that this road is heavily patrolled and i know where the cop nest is. i do the limit until i can clearly see the nest, and it's empty! by this point the minivan is neck and neck with me trying to pass. i put the throttle to 50% and smoked em. i don't know what happened to him but i did not see him again. probably pulled a u turn and went home one thing i find around here is that people drive very aggressivly in the slowest parts of town. as soon as they get to an open road or highway they totally puss out. due to this i've only had 1 chance to test my autobahn.

the turbo charged beetle is 150hp, the non charged version is only 100hp. it has a tiny turbo and it's intercooler is probably no larger than our heatercores.
