Generally junk and not worth the money, from all the previous research that's been done on jet chips. For $200, you could update your intake and part of your exhaust for a lot better results.

Someone on another forum some time ago mentioned that all this piece of trash did was to turn on the check engine light.

Though doing only part of the exhaust may leave you with less performance than you started with

I thought about getting one of these when I had my Impala too. No one on the Impala forums suggested it either. I do have a hard time believing it doesn't do anything... Especially for $200. On the other hand I can definately picture it turning the SES light on. Has anyone here actually used one?

If you have a hard time believing something sold on the internet for $200 might not do anything, I have this really swell bridge to sell you. It goes from Manhatten to Brooklyn and people just have to go across it every day. I'm thinking of selling it for, oh, say about $200. When can I expect your Cashiers Check or Money Order? ;D

It will take your normal, everyday Aurora Engine with a measly 250 HP and convert it to infinite power and speed. The base price is $1,500. Only one model on the shelf. Oh yes, if you order by tomorrow at noon, theres a free set of Ginsu knives.

02Aurora has used this on her 3.5L Aurora. She also had her exhaust modified, I believe to Flowmasters. Here are her comments on it: The Jet chip is alright. It definately is much quicker to shift, and the RPM's go higher between shifts. Qicker reaction time. But there are a few annoyances that cause me to have it turned off, unless I'm in the mood to race. For instance, it causes the check engine light to always be on, when the unit is turned on. And every now and then is makes the electrical system go screwy...lights flicker when starting, wierd idle when starting, dumb messages coming over my DIM when there's nothing wrong. All that stuff (with the exception of the CEL) happens very rarely, and is over with before you even know what happened, but it still is annoying.

Yes, I remembered her semi positive post, good lookin' out Aurora40. However I could find about a dozen or so very negative posts on other forums that claim no performance increase and only the electrical gremlins as an effect. People with way more smarts than me have suggested the engine management systems will just compensate for whatever the Jet Chip adjusts.
I have about zero or less knowledge in these areas, but common sense tells me that major performance gains are unlikely with this product. Boy would I love it to be not the case, a simple plug in unit like the performance chips in OBD1 units, wow. Does anybody have a magic wand to wave and make it so?

I think your best bet would be to contact one of the major companies and ask if they can do a custom burn for you. You would have to probably send your PCM in to get burned, or they might even need your car itself to put on the dyno and tune. It would take just one willing member to 'donate' their car for a day to one of these companies to make the program..

I had a custom PCM in my Impala. www.digitalhorsepowerinc.comI liked it at first and there was definately an increase in performance. It cause all kinds of problems and I had to spend a lot of money to get my car running right again. I ended up trading the Impala in for my Aurora. I don't think I'll be investing in the JET... I don't want to have to trade my Aurora too.
