The talk in the 1/4 mile perforance thread was interesting, and I thought we could move it to a new thread vs extending that one.
It seems like the Aurora can do 60's in about 2.2-2.4 seconds, and fairly consistently. To me, this isn't slow out of the hole for a 4-door street car on all-season tires.
People seem to say that the Aurora is slow from a start, but it doesn't seem to be too bad. Looking at Regags.org's listing of 1/4 mile times, the cars running 14's tend to be around 2.1-2.3 60' times. And I would bet they are a lot more likely to have high-performance tires on their cars for the strip. Looking at the Riviera's, they are 2.3 to 2.4's for the guys running above 13's.
I only managed a 2.23 60' time in the Corvette, so the Aurora would have been keeping up ok out of the hole. My best Aurora 60' was a 2.29, and that's on Michelin MXV4+'s.

Very true. The initial launch seems impressive, but the 2,500 rpm to 3,800 rpm is a little lackluster. But, say, if you gun it from like 5 or 10 mph, there is some bog.
Note; my tires are Goodyear Integrities, the cheapest tire Goodyear makes. Even MXV4's would have been a giant step up for me.

all of the 3800 powered cars have major traction issues though from the instant ammount of torque. That loss of traction will result in the poor 60' times would it not? The Aurora probably can get a decent time because it doesn't spin the tires resulting in a better launch.

I can spin the tires on my Aurora. There was a time once where the traction control never kicked in and somehow both tires broke loose and smoked and smoked and smoked. Dont know if it was a glitch in the system or what but it lit em' right up NO problem. Havent been able to since and I dont really try. Free spinning tires can kill a transmission. I tend to ease into it off the line and then punch it around 20mph.

i wonder what kinda 60's we could get with drag radials.

i wonder what kinda 60's we could get with drag radials. Unless your spinning your tire alot on launch, then I don't think it would make much difference.

Well, stronger motored cars have lower 60' times in spite of traction problems for the most part (though they generally have more tire too). The Aurora can't ride the edge of traction for 60', so there's certainly room to improve. And, I'd bet some of those GS's had hi-po tires as opposed to the all-seasons many/most of us run. I don't know, though. What kind of 60' times to sissier cars put out? That Miata I ran against was around 2.4+.
