Feel good points. Essentially its a member rating system amongst members...I suppose.
I would assume if a member posts in a thread that you deem to be useful or humourous or whatever, you have the liberty of boosting their "karma" Some have stated that it gets old fast, but I think it has some staying power to it!
I think it would be more long-term useful if there were restrictions on it. Like one member should only be able to smite or exalt another member once. Maybe if you later want to change your vote from one to the other, fine.
Otherwise, someone could just register another non-posting screenname, and exalt themselves every hour for eternity. Or one person can just keep smiting another over and over.
It's novel but needs some better control than just one vote an hour.

I try to be even handed offering as many +'s as -'s. If somebody deserves a bump for a good post with good info, or it's funny, an exalt. If it's dumb or gratuitous or something I don't like reading, a smite. I think it will all settle down soon enough.
I don't think anyone cares enough to cheat on them, pretty lame if you need to cheat on an internet forum to validate your life. I say do what you like with them, just give as many good vibes as bad, karma ya know.
