I am going to drain the trans and install a new filter and fluid. Any recommendations regarding ATF?

Use the new dexron 6, availiable at any GM dealer. It replaces dexron 3 and isn't availiable anywhere but a dealer. Much better fluid performance characteristics.

Yeah, I always stick with the GM/AC Delco stuff for trannies also.
