OK gentlemen. Just saw this in the 5 Qt. bottles at Wal-Mart. Mobil 1 for high mileage vehicles - 75,000 and up. Anyone know anything about the specs on this? Is it as good or better than regular M1???

Here's the link at Mobil's web site: www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Mobil_1_High_Mileage_10W-30.aspxAnd the information on the page: Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 As your engine ages, seals deteriorate, oil burn-off increases and sludge can build up, which can all result in a decrease in engine performance and, ultimately, reduce engine life. Mobil 1® High Mileage 10W-30 is designed to maximize engine performance and help extend engine life. Mobil 1 High Mileage is designed especially for engines where conventional oil has been used, and where these conditions have been experienced: Severe Service Extended Oil Drains Poor Maintenance Multiple Owners For engines where heavy deposits and sludging exist, we recommend short initial oil change drain intervals of 3,000 miles as cleanup progresses. Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 is designed for higher mileage vehicles and provides the following benefits: Extra anti-wear additive helps protect critical engine parts Reduces the sludge and deposits that conventional oils can leave behind Higher viscosity formula helps reduce oil burn-off and leakage Meets API SL/CF ILSAC GF-3 quality

Seems like it'd be as good as regular M1. I wonder how the viscosity can be higher if it's a 10w-30 weight though.
My main concern would be the same as for regular M1, and that's the recent zinc reductions. With flat-tappet lifters I am thinking of looking for something zincier.

I use Shell Rotella synthetic oil in everything I own. It is 5w-40 and meets CI-4+ (diesel rating for modern turbocharged diesels) as well as SH, SJ and SL. I think it would be good for our Classic flat tappet engines. It is available at WalMart for under $17 a gallon. You can read about it at www.rotella.com

Rotella is well respected and highly regarded by Truckers in their diesels. What's the testing at Bob is the oil guy for it?

This is the last virgin oil 5w-40 Rotella test I found, posted in November 2005
Rotella Synthetic 5W40 Analysis by Blackstone Labs, 11/22/05
code:
Iron 1 Silicon 4 Sodium 3 Calcium 2884 Magnesium 10 Phosphorus 1164 Zinc 1311
All others 0
Viscosity 75.6 Flashpoint 410
However, at some point in 2007, Rotella Synthetic will become CJ rated, at which point the zinc levels could be cut. I am stocked up on the CI-4 stuff.

Including my heavily used GMC pickup and my 1969 Dodge Coronet street/strip car. I have not been disapointed at all with its performance. I have considered using it in my Aurora but haven't as of yet. Any body running Rotella in there Aurora ??

I know someone who did for one oil change, it seemed that his Aurora leaked a lot more oil during that time than it did before.

I was thinking about using rotella 5-40, cause i use valvoline in my cavi, and the lifters are a littel loud, but thats common for the LN2 I4 engine
