Hello guys/gals,
My car was involved in a hit and run on Friday night. It did not suffer a lot of damage, but it will require a good body shop because my driver's side quarter panel is pushed in. Does anyone know of any decent body shops around the Clarkston, Michigan area. My insurance is recommending Audette Cadillac body shop, but my previous experiences with Goodwrench body shops have not been good. I'm concerned about how this new paint is gonna blend with a 10 year old paint. Another concern of mine is how the bodyshop is going to repair the quarter panel (pull it or just put bondo, etc.).
Any recommendations? Gianni

I would think a Cadillac dealer would be a good place to send your Aurora. They would (hopefully) have experience in repairing Auroras so I bet it'd be a safe place to go. I don't think they can use bondo to fix the car though. How bad is the damage? Any pics?

Bondo is a term of caveman shade tree body works.
Collision repair and materials now a days are much better than even just a decade and so on ago. The profesional grade PLASTIC being used in cars in the 90's was and is great stuff. There are diff grades of everything.
Thinking that plastic cant be used on panels is incorrect and only screams for higher insurance premiums and repair costs. Thats not anything anyone wants. A premium plastic will last forever as long as it isnt applied too think and can be shielded from moisture. Nothing to worry about just demand that its done right and with good materials and someone experienced does the work and your car will be alright.
Body shop repair and paint work is an art. Too many jackass wanabees out there attempt to do this art with wanabe grade tools and materials. Then people get upset because they cant do it ........so even if a car that is repaired and done right is a POS. Hilarious!

Filler shouldn't be applied thicker than 3/16" of an inch

I have visited 3 body shops around this area and I'm thinking about taking the car to Autometric Collision in Telegraph Rd. in Pontiac, MI. This body shop chain is the only one certified by Mercedes Benz, BMW, and Jaguar to repair aluminum frames. I'm taking it to their Domestic / Japanese shop. I inspected one vehicle and I couldn't detect previous work ... I actually had to ask the manager where the car suffered damage. This body shop was used by Car and Driver a few years back when they wrecked one of their fleet vehicles (BMW 3-series) that was being driven in MI.
