Was looking at ebay longingly at the 93-97 style Sevilles... anyway, I came across this one: www.mcsmk8.com/97sts/97-STS.HTM(ebay # 4586457502) Anyway, it comes with this supposed Z-rated option... "The Z-rated option included Z-rated tires, a stiffer suspension programming, a different torque converter and 4l80T setup so the car can switch into 4th gear at wide open throttle and lock the converter up under full power, and a bit larger cooling system so you can stand on it. This "z-rated" option was primarily for the handful of European export cars and was not on many STS's in general." I'm wondering if there are any Auroras out there with this too? And what is the difference with the transmission? What's normally on the STS? It's very surprising this was only a $250 option!! People would pay far more for that... Though I would still not pay $20k for that STS

Either this guy is full of it or I am missing something. The only documented $250 option is the Z-rated Goodyear Eagle GA's. Still a cool car/collection.

Yes, there was an H-rated and Z-rated option for Sevilles, at least STS's. There was no such option for Auroras.
All it included was Eagle RS-A tires in a Z-rating, and a higher speed limiter. I don't know where that seller is getting all that suspension and torque-convertor stuff from. Why on earth would you want to lock the torque convertor under full throttle?
Edit: ah, should have checked the link earlier. The url looked familiar, and of course so. That's UltraSlow, he's got some ZR-1's and Callaway Twin Turbos.

Yeah, I also found it interesting because of that - a guy who owns a ZR-1 tends to know his cars... but is this complete crap or something? He claims 335HP and 165mph top speed on his STS...

I'm not necessarily judging the guy; he obviously is doing something right based upon the wealth he has amassed. That is, assuming he has earned it the old fashioned way... You fill in the blank. But his web site reads like it was written by someone with English as a second language. I must be missing something...

Well, he is from the South and he was a GM tech - not the smartest people there anyway. But his english could be far worse. The mods he's done and the tinkering he's done with his very complicated cars lends me to believe that he knows what he's doing, rather than wealth. Wealth in Texas is a funny thing - the stupidest of people tend to amass it

Wealth in Texas is a funny thing - the stupidest of people tend to amass it If that's the case, I could do extremely well to relocate there.

WOW!!!! Look at this guy's reply about my question. Perfectly reasonable question, totally idiotic reply. Did my email have complete moron attached to it? I know there's an obvious reason why there isn't any interior pictures is because it IS NOT as showroom as you claim. Just wondering if he would fess up. Wow, this is the type of guy I would punch out at a bar.
I just emailed he backed, asking if he had a time slip or a vid of a drag strip pass. As the fastest stock STS I've seen was a 14.6 (which I don't think was stock and posted by 4.0) and this one with just his "Delphi One-Lap of America ECU" upgrade which gained about 35hp claimed by him, lobbed 7 or so tenths of the 1/4 mile.

There is too much that doesn't add up with this guy. He is either hiding something or his ego was offended by your questionning the interior. Not someone with whom I would want to enter into a $20K transaction.
If this car is as described, and he truly wishes to sell it, he should have no problem backing his claims with pictures, time slips, etc.
If it were me, I'd lose the chump.

It could also be that he isn't pressed to sell the car, or that he doesn't think you are a serious buyer.
