Nothing cheapens a nice car more than rattles and I had two that were driving me nuts. Two of the four Center Caps on my wheels were loose and rattling loudly with each revolution of the wheel. This was embarrassing as hell and I struggled to find a low-tech fix short of replacing the caps completely.
The cap has four tangs inside it that must clamp to the rim. I guess over time they deformed and their grip reduced. The fix...plasticine. That blue, sticky stuff that you used as a kid to stick posters to your bedroom wall - put a blob of it on each tang. This thickens the tang and the fit is much tighter. No more rattles = happy driver. Hope this helps anyone with similar troubles!

3 of 4 of mine rattled. I took black electric tape and loosely rapped it around the tabs and popped them back on. It has held up for more than a year now.
