I wanted clear side markers but, let's face it... I'm a lazy fool. Conseqently, heat guns and epoxy just weren't going to work for me. So, I made my clear markers a different way and thought I'd share. It went like this: Tools Required- Big, flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
- Needle-nosed pliers
STEP 1With the lamp housing removed and placed face down, insert your big, honkin' screwdriver into the upward facing hole (directly over the orange diffuser). Using the screwdriver as a chisel, give it a good whack with the hammer to break the diffuser. Repeat the chisel move until you have broken some pieces of the diffuser loose. STEP 2Hold the housing face-up (hole down), and shake it until a piece of the diffuser protrudes through the hole. Using the needle-nosed pliers, grab onto the piece and use a twisting motion to break off a section that can be pulled through the hole. STEP 3Continue breaking off small pieces and pulling them through the hole. Do some chiseling action if you need to dislodge more pieces of the diffuser from the housing. Halfway there... STEP 4Once all of the diffuser has been removed from the housing, rinse all of the little shards out of the housing. Viola... that's it, you're done. Let that baby dry and slap it back on in the morning! In total, it took me about 45 minutes to do the one side. The only downside was that the inner reflective surface of the housing suffered a few scratches. Hey, I can live with that. BTW - Sorry if the pictures of the housing/lens look funny; I washed it out first, so there was moisture inside. -Shawn

I thought about that, but, I was hoping after I got mine open, to put a clear/white reflector in so I could hide the bulb. I wanna see what your's looks like to see what the exposed bulb looks like, esp. at night.
betonthis1, I just had an idea for yours, why dont consider "smoking out" yours? You know, giving it a blacken finish. On your silver (or is it tan?) it would go with the tint nice.

You don't actually need a chisel, you're just using the screwdriver as a chisel. As for bulbs, I'll be using STEALTH ones. I like them because they look clear, but glow amber when illuminated - Best of both worlds! Here's a link to their site... www.stealthauto.com/Store/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SBCA-Shawn

Yo!, nice job, it looks easy, just make sure you don't puncture the clear outer lense when punching out the amber reflector.
Real nice job TLTND.

Hahaha, good work! Wacko, I don't believe Gerber is made here. I think it's a German or Swiss brand? It's owned by Fiskars. I'm a Leatherman fellow myself.

The cardboard and carpet should have been sufficient to absorb the shock of the screwdriver before the lens broke. You must have really nailed it!!! Again, I'm sorry to hear that happened. I feel kinda bad that someone broke their stuff following the instructions that I posted. Hey, I just remembered - Before doing the work on the lights, I soaked them in hot water/dishsoap for a couple days to clean them. Maybe that led to them being less brittle. As for the side note, the lights are actually spare ones I bought on eBay a while back. I haven't taken mine off yet. It's kinda funny that you asked that really, I was going to ask you how to get the stock ones out -Shawn

Let's wait on that; I'm thinking of doing a little something else to the clears ;D However, if all turns out well it shouldn't be a problem. I'll get back to you once I'm done tinkering with the first set.

Looks sweet! If Darth Vader drove a car, this would be it. And so close to Halloween! Is it an optical delusion or do you have different wheels on each side of your car?

This is exactly the same procedure I used to get clear tail lights on my 03 Grand Prix. Just be careful not to punch a hole in them:) Take your time and the results will be well worth it.
