Oil doesn't "go bad", at least not quickly. Just hang onto the stuff until it's time to change the oil again. Or save it for your next car. If that sale is going on around here I'm definitely gonna stop by AA and take advantage! I already have the M1 Extended Performance in mine and am about due for a filter change. Right now I've just got a cheapie filter on there, so a nice M1 filter will be fabuloso. EDIT: Here's the deal... looks like the sale is good thru May 31st.

Got this deal at my local AA store yesterday... did it x2 (one for the Aurora and one for the RV), getting 10 quarts of M1 Extended Protection and 2 M1 filters for around $56. Excellent promotion for anyone that changes their own oil or has been thinking of switching to synthetic!

i got the extended protection is there any difference then the regular mobil1. i had my current olds changed with penzoil platinum for a while now and i liked it no real problems but if i get a newer aurora will there be any problems in switching from conventional oil to a full synthetic ?

Extended Protection is supposed to be good for 15,000 miles / 1 year, whichever comes first. In another thread we talked about actually testing that claim, and a member had the oil analyzed after 10,000 miles and it was still good. The standard M1 makes no claims on longevity.
From what I've read, it's almost always a good idea to switch an engine to synthetic. If you felt uneasy about the sudden change, you could always use a synthetic blend (which is just half conventional and half synthetic) for a few changes... ease your way there. But I switched my Aurora straight to full synthetic a couple years ago and didn't have a single problem.
