If you have a laptop look for an old Autotap interface device. The software is free. I got mines for 100 bucks to use with my grand prix. Plus, it allows you to monitor everything that your PCM has such as misfires, timing, etc. Im not trying to plug my club but there may be a some in the sale forums over at clubgp.com. Sorry admins if I am breaking any of the rules.

A Snap-On MT2500 (the red brick) will also work on the 95's.

only pcm dtc's will be read by snapon2500, to get to the abs data you need extra cartridge...

That's true, I guess I never really had abs troubles so I forgot about it.

wont work. only top end autoxray/actron devices may read 95's PCM dtc's. Not abs/tc,derm,ipc,dic systems errors.

I have a 1997 not a 1995. The autotap thing seems interesting.

I am looking at a code scanner and also wanting one that does OBDI along with freezeframe and live/recorded data. 5 OBDII mode inputs and updateable.
Looked at the Autoxray 6000, cheapest I found is like $250 and mail order or ebay. Nothing local.
Found Innova/Equus 3140 at Partsamerica (Checkers for me) at $350, but price matching at $200 to $210 plus tax, but local purchase (wait of 3 days)
So my real ? is, any input good or bad about Innova/Equus quality. This will be rarely uses, home use and care. But I want a reader in the garage instead of Autozone.
Another brand with the features offered for the $ spent?

Well I purchased/ordered a Innova/Equus scanner 3140. Cheapest place I located it at was a web site with free shipping , etooldirect.com $210 delivered. OBD1 and 2 with live data and playback are some of its features. Now I did not purchase it there. I went to my local Checkers part store and had them price match it for $210, their listed price was $349.00. Rather pay tax and support my local business if they price match that much It should be in either today or tomorrow, so I will be able to play with it this weekend.

For almost $200, I'd say go with an EZ-Scan. It datalogs in addition to reading codes, and if you don't get the 6000, you can always upgrade later if you want to use it on more cars. I've seen 6000's for like $300 or less, they get cheaper all the time.

I ended up getting a basic $25 scanner off of eBay, it works with all OBDII cars and spits codes like a champ. Simple LED numbers on the front show the code. There's a "read" button and a "clear" button on the front too, and simple is good for someone like myself. If all you need to do is know the code, I would go this route. Gets it done without hurting the wallet.

Update- chickened out at the last minute on the AX6000. My corner shop read it for free and that's priceless.

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!!!
After several outbids, I finally won a Tech1 off ebay! Just under 225, free shipping and among other things... IT INCLUDES THE 81-96 POWERTRAIN, 88-96 BODY & CHASSIS, 90-96 SERVICE PROGRAMMING VER. 4.0
So I should be covered for the Aurora (including my freaking keyless remote!) and the Corvette! I'm so happy! I might go out tonight... I feel lucky!

WOW! That calls for a party! BTW, how close are you to Louisville?;-)
I got lucky, too- my local Cadillac store will do the remote programming for $22, or free if I buy the remote from them Which I am ($62), because the ones I bought on ebay have the wrong signal. Still cheaper than the $110 at the Caddy store at the auto mall.

Well I still don't know for sure that my $14 ebay remote will work, but was quoted $80 to program it (which I'm sure would have applied even if the remote was the wrong one) so you broke even with that I guess. If I had to buy their remote, probably double that... just throwing good money after bad. Boo dealerships!
