Next Wednesday my family will be leaving for southern Indiana to visit my wife's parents. A tiny town about 30 minutes outside of Madison. Will be about a 12 hour drive instead of 10 because we can't seem to do a gas stop in under 45 minutes as the kids always take long bathroom breaks then want to get something to eat and browse the rest stop gift shop or convenience store. We pack food and games in the car but they always want something else! Oh well. Will be good to see my in-laws. Not taking the 'rora, though. Driving my wife's Pilot since that seats 8 and we'll need the extra space to fit her parents in the car when we go places while out there. Think I'll count how many Auroras I see on the trip. Anyone want to bet on the number?

Maybe you will be surprised by how many Auroras you see I think here in the midwest they are plentiful When I drove to Elgin (about 40 miles) last week to pick up my daughter, I saw 2 classics on the way there and 2 classics on the way back. Today, I made the same trip. Saw 1 classic and 2 2nd gens on the way there 1 classic on the way back. You will probably see more 2nd gens than I would. For me, classics are easier to spot probably because that's what I drive. Just like when I first bought the car, I never really saw any 'til I had one . Have a safe trip and take pix! ;D

That's why you put the kids safety locks "ON"... That way they can't get out unless you let them

Hi all. Sorry for the late reply but I've been busy. So the Aurora count across 1400+ miles of driving was ... only 4 2 on the I-275 loop around Cincinnati (a bronze 2nd gen on the trip out, a white classic on the ride back) 1 white 2nd gen in the town of Vernon, Indiana (really, about the last place I expected to see one of these cars since this town is a bit past its prime and was otherwise filled with pickups and old cars also well past their prime) 1 bronze 2nd gen on the PA turnpike outside Philly on the ride home. Otherwise there were lots and lots of other Oldses, including mid-80's Cutlasses, a few Bravadas, many Aleros and Intrigues, several mid-90's models, and even saw a wrecked '69 Cutlass or 442 rusting in an Indiana back yard. Our route takes us through the town of Aurora Indiana, on the border with Ohio below Cincinnati. Here are a couple pics from the road (their water tower is red and white, like Aurora IL): Wonder how many other towns named Aurora there are ... Maybe we should put together an "Auroras to the Auroras" cruise! ;D
