Here is the Official poll to lock in the date for the Mid-West Meet in Aurora, Illinois. If you plan to attend, please cast your vote for either one. If you're indifferent, then just don't vote.
May the best weekend win!!

I think Scotty said it in the other thread....has anyone checked with oldsnut? He is the guy in Aurora (sorry, North Aurora) and will be doing a lot of the prep, like reserving the pavillion. I think we should wait to see when he is available.

June 26, 27, 28 so far is the best. The weekend in July I will be preparing to leave for the OCA Nationals in Pennsylvania.
We cannot book the preserves until after Jan 1st and I need an idea of how many cars we would have. If we have more than the one I am looking at now will hold, I will have to look for a new location.

Ok well I suppose that settles it then? We are basing it on when oldsnut is available? In that case we need to get a count...maybe we should delete this thread and make a new poll asking how many can make those dates?? I'm guessing we would only get the pavillion for one afternoon right? So, let's say Saturday is the official "meet at the pavillion" day? And on Friday we can just meet up wherever who whoever is there, and then find a campsite to crash at??

Works for me. It sucks that so many people have conflicting dates, but with so many people coming I guess it was inevitable. We should start a new thread with the "select yes if you're coming" poll on it.

Easy folks. Let's calm down a little on all the decision-making and starting new threads right at the moment. I don't think anyone knows exactly what they will be doing at the end of June 2009, to the point where they can commit to attending an event that's still almost 7 months away. I know I don't. My suggestion is we wait until after January at least, maybe longer, before we rush and make any final decisions on date/location. We can discuss options up until then, but let's keep those talks in the original "pre planning" thread so we don't completely clutter up this section.

I think it's best to try to get the date set ASAP so that people can try to plan around the meet, instead of us trying to plan the meet around everyone else. We only need a rough estimate for how many people will be attending anyway, just so he knows which pavilion to reserve.

As Always, PLAN AHEAD. As the OCA does, they plan almost 2 years ahead or longer. Oldsnut, I have some time to get together with you to help plan the event. It is not the easiest thing to do, and to please everyone, too. ;D Everyone else, that plans on making an Aurora Meet, please vote on the best weekend. ;D The sooner we set a date, the more people can plan on making it. It will be a good time and better than last year. Beanbags, Bar-B-Que, Family & Fun.

Either date will work for me. I cast my vote for the july date because I would like it if Randy could make it up, but like I said, either date is ok.

Both dates are bad for me. But I do not expect the meet to change for me, so I will change for the meet. I voted for the end of June.

Well, seems like the end of June is pretty unanimous. Sorry to anyone who can't make that date, scotty, I don't mean to clutter up this area so I won't make a new thread but we should think about either deleting/closing this and the pre-planning thread in favor of an official planning thread, with a poll for whether or not people will be able to make those dates (Maybe do it by day, so we know how many to expect on what days. )

Your setting a date and we don't even have the location locked in. If I can't book any Forest Preserves in the county until after Jan 1st. If I get beat to it then I have to look at an alternate location and/or date.

He's just excited like the rest of us! Think of how many Auroras we'll have in one place. It's gonna be off the hook!
Now that we have a tenative date set, we should let it ride for a while. See how it looks after new years, you know?

Wow, took six votes to decide this one. The young guns are ready to go! It's cool theres such a wide range of ages that love this car. So, since I can't seem to locate anyone in my area....how many days should I plan for to come out? lol I won't vote on this because I'm so far away.
I would love to see Randy's keychain though!

All I did was suggest the next step, I haven't taken any action or anything to evoke chastising. I don't want to start an argument but I appreciate being spoken to with respect as much as the next person. I realize that you can't book the park until the 1st, but I also realize that you can't be sure what park to book until you have an accurate tally of attendance numbers. All I'm suggesting is that we make some sort of move to get a decent estimate of the number of people, to help you out. It also won't hurt to let the thread sit up for a while, I'm sure there are people in our area who are on these forums but don't surf them every day, they may be interested in attending as well. The longer they have to read/respond to a roll-call thread, the better turn out we're likely to get.

It's outta control. I had to buy a set of key tags yesterday. I am not trying to offend anyone, but I agree with Oldsnut. We should just be patient and let things fall into place. It is his area we will be going to, and I think he has a lot more experience with Oldsmobile meets!! A forest Preserve sounds like a sweet place to meet.

I agree, it sounds like a cool place for us to be.
It does make sense to get a roll-call going, I agree. The people that aren't around the forum that often aren't exactly people we can count on to be at the meet anyway, though! All I know is that I'm going to be there haha.

well enough debating and fighting, I'm the last person who wants to see peoples opinions get in the way of whats best for the club. I say give the poll more time, until maybe the middle of december. See how people start voting. Secondly I am as Giddy as the next person to make this trek, but lets tihnk reasonably and not so quickly. I for one will be there rain or shine. A poll of attendence does not need to be made until mid decmeber. By then the thread will have generated enough curiosity to bring people in to vote. Oldsnut should not have any problem getting a rough estimate of attendees.
In all actuality he would probably know what to reserve if we had more than 10 auroras planning on coming. And I too am impressed with the wide range of ages, including us youngins, of people who are interested. I say give this thread more time to establish an actuall realistic percentage for when. Oldsnut, maybe you could try posting a couple of areas on the thread and have web links to them (if available) and amount of people that can be held at each place. If an actual image can be formed in a persons mind of the meeting place we might get more hits. The more the better in my opinion. So if we will prceed with roll call. than I give a big fat "HERE" -ZACH

I wouldn't say anyone here is fighting, don't get ahead of yourself! Oldsnut (and possibly Aurorarancher, IIRC) are our hosts for this meet; this is their show. The thread is here, and there's no need to lock it. If people want to discuss who will be there and who wont, that's fine. Its not like you won't be allowed to come if you don't register by mid-december though, so I don't see any reason to make a "deadline" or anything. Like I said earlier, let's just let it ride for a month or two. Let Oldsnut handle the meet stuff, he knows what he's doing!
btw, that's a "HERE" for me too! ;D
