I had already purchased 5% tint and applied to my car but my parents made me remove it once they found out it was illegal (15% in back, 35% in front is legal) and they will only put 25% to 35% (depending) on my car all the way around, because they do not want my insurance to drop me if anything were to happen
the thing is they knew it was illegal when they allowed me to buy it but are now saying they didnt know( to protect them selves from seeming like criminals or soemthin to our insurance company i guess)
so i am just wondering is there anyway to make your tint seem darker than it is, i also have a tan car with tan interior + its is of course a 4door car so all of these make the tint seem lighter than it actually is!!...
also literally a hundreds cars in our town have 5% and have been pulled over for things besides their tint and no one to any of our (me and my friends) knowledge has gotten a ticket for this simply because the cops dont care!!
but my parents see it as illegal and wont allow it even though they speed constantly(whats the difference??) so i am wondering if there is any way of making my new 25% tint seem darker!??

eweath, any tint below 50% in Maine is illegal. So don't take it for granted that you can tint your windows at all! The only addition I'd ever really do to my Aurora is the tint - I'd go to 1% if possible - but tint laws are brutal... Sorry, just had to rant

no joke well i just want it dark enough so it is not possible to see in my windoes from teh outside.. i figured 5% would do the job, but the parents are almost as brutal as tint laws, oh wait theyre worse
yeah sorry for all you non tint goers

Well, if your parents want you to abide by the legal limit, I would let it be. Or move out, tint it darker, and let the law take care of you if it comes to that.
A subtle tinting is better, the Aurora has one of the most gorgeous interiors...why hide it?
That was my mentality when I applied 35% tint.

yeah, my 25% tint is legal, in florida where i got it done, but back home in Minnesota, darker than 50% is illegal, and in wisconsin which is where i'm living, below 35% is illegal. i keep my records saying it was done legally in Florida, don't know if that would help, but oh well, i've never been pulled over because of it, or since i got the tint for that matter, even with my straight pipes. I don't see why you'd want it any darker anyways, are there things you do in there you don't want other people to see? i'm sure thats what the cops would think.

Supa - at least here in Maine, unless you still have your foreign license plate, it won't work. In fact my mother bought a used van once, with some rear windows tinted out of state. The cop made us remove the tinting! And it wouldn't pass inspection, either.

Eric - You should just have some LCD-impregnated windows custom made for the Aurora. That way, you could easily tint the windows anywhere from 1% to 100% instantly at the push of a button. Should only run you 25 grand or so, too .

what do you guys think of getting likea layer of 50% silver and then a layer of 50% black behind it?? um no....why bother doing all of that? they make tint that is semi metallic. not the fugly mirror tint that you see on ghetto cars but tint that isnt really dark but when you try to look through it, you can only see a relfection.

Also mind the law about reflections, too... my state doesn't allow them at all. (which I don't understand btw, ALL tint/windows are reflective to some extent, and those RX300s come with reflective tint from the factory... idiot law makers)

yeah, i always wonder about the vehicles with factory dark tint, all the tint on the rear windows of SUV's such as suburbans and Explorers are definitely illegal.

it is legal (in mass at least) to have the rear side windows as dark as you want. The windows that have to comply with the tint laws are the front driver, front passenger, and the rear windshield. I would assume that most states have this similar law, and that's why you see SUV's with "privacy glass" in the rear.

But those SUVs and minivans with the factory "Privacy glass" - they cover the rear windshield too...

I'm going to go with 20% which is the legal limit here in Oklahoma. I just wish I could go get it done, can't seem to find the time to do it.

But those SUVs and minivans with the factory "Privacy glass" - they cover the rear windshield too... Privacy glass is just that... darkly-tinted GLASS, as opposed to plastic film applied over the top of the glass. That cannot really be considered illegal (or enforced anyway) if it comes from the factory that way.

I would assume that most states have this similar law, and that's why you see SUV's with "privacy glass" in the rear. In North Carolina all cars can only have 35% but SUVs/Trucks are allowed to get as dark as they want which is totally unfair. My homeboy has a Mitsubishi endeavor and his tints are dark as hell even the front too and at night I had to roll my window down to look out the window smh I want tint but not that dark I wouldn't wanna risk wrecking my baby because of some dark ass tint but I do want it dark enough so its hard to see through the windows that's one reason why I want my windows tinted in the first place so people can't be nosy.

Laws are pretty lenient here in Kansas. You can have 35% in the front and whatever you want on rear windows and rear glass, nothing on the windshield of course. I have 20% all the way around and have never gotten hassled for it. If I got it done again I would do 15%. 20% just isn't quite dark enough.
