I figured if I could avg 60 mph, that would be 35 hr divided by 3 days of driving 11-12 hr a day? It is like driving a Lazy-Boy...

Thanks fellas but, it would be NO FUN standing around without my car. I was thinkin get the car shipped to a local hotel or to someones house in the Brother/Sisterhood? Then I fly out a day early, give her a bath, meet at the park, then drive home? I figure its at least $500 to get there, 4-5 tanks, 3 hotels including the destination plus 3 days of my life watching pastures go by. So if I could do it for $800?......time out, just did a quik quote for vehicle shipping, $1475 in a covered wagon, $875 open trailer...hmmm.

To put a break in the drivel *ahem* ... oldsnut do you happen to know of any nearby campgrounds? Something with RV sites would be helpful for me personally as we will probably make a family camping weekend of it. But anything with tent sites could help out the other folks who are driving in from long(er) distances and want to sleep on the cheap. I was hoping that the preserve itself would offer camping, but it appears not to from the link you provided earlier. EDIT: found this link with some area campgrounds. Bliss Woods in Sugar Grove appears to be the closest to Aurora, about 9 miles.

Don't really know anything about it. www.hideawaylakes.com/

Gee, by my count we had 6 Javi, Dave, Scotty, Tony, me, and you ... If you count spouses and kids, there were more last year and definitely will be this year. I know that my wife and two boys will be there, so I'll automatically be 4 people. It can easily make for a good-sized gathering that way, even if actual ACNA member numbers are not in the teens (or higher). I don't want anyone to base their decision only on the expected number of club attendees. Show up anyway! ;D Is anyone else traveling from a distance interested in camping? If so I'll check on tent sites (or whatever else you may need) when I call around for RV info.

Well that's true, we had a total of 12 show AND, I don't see why we couldn't have 12 members this year plus everyone they bring with them!! Maybe I can even get Captain Kirk to come Put a cool one in the fridge for me! Done !!!

Me: MY CAR Them: your buying another one! Me: no I'm meeting cool people like me Them: O........so your meeting cool car people Me: yup Them: we'll just stay at the camp! I believe Randy is going, too. Lance and I are both going to try and come too. Mine isn't dependent on the amount of people there tho, If I get the go ahead I'll be there. If Randy can't make it then I'll make a stop in Iowa City and travel the rest of the way with Tyler.

I'd be interested in that...seems kind of waste, even for me, to make the 3-4 hour trip both ways just to meet up for the evening. You have any camping supplies? I don't but I've been thinking about buying myself a tent for a while now, so it just might be the perfect excuse. Scotty, let us know how the tent camping situation looks when you find out.

Scotty, let us know how the tent camping situation looks when you find out. Will do, still researching. Just for the record I will not be camping in a tent , but every RV campground I've ever been in also has tent areas. Unfortunately the closest place (Hide Away Lakes) is probably NOT a place I want to visit based on online reviews. I had my doubts anyway, since although their website looks decent I don't think it's been updated in 3 years.

I'll be camping overnight both on Friday and Saturday. It's a 9 hour drive for me, I'll have no time to hang out with everyone if I try to make it all in two days. (To get there at noon on Saturday I would have to leave at 3am on Friday night which just isn't going to happen lol) I have a Kelty Green River 4 (that I used at the Springfield meet): I have enough camping supplies to last quite a while, too. (a nice propane grill, sleeping mats, chairs, cot, etc. (Being an Eagle Scout has its advantages! Lots of camping equipment! ;D) So to answer your unasked question, there is definitely enough room in my tent for more than myself. When you do it right, it's an 8 person tent. I've done it before but thats REALLY uncomfortable... It is meant to be a 4 person tent with gear, so it can fit 5 people comfortably if we keep gear in our cars. If you want to go buy a tent then go for it, but staying in mine is cool with me. I have a big 3-room Coleman tent that I can bring as well that will fit 12 people easily... (similar to the weathermaster, but a little bigger. It isn't made anymore.) If we have enough people that need a place to be overnight I can just bring that. I'd rather not b/c it's like 8 years old and has a 3 foot long rip on one side, but whatever is most convenient works for me.

Ill be camping and Ill be bringing my own tent so yes a tent site would be nice. Preferrably within 30 miles of the park were meeting at. I think I might invest in a nice gas stove, last time I camped it rained and talk about a pain in the rear too cook some flipping hot dogs!!

Haha thanks, guys! I like it too, obviously. ;D In the sun it definitely has a red property to it, but it needs a wax REALLY bad right now and the " red metallic" part isn't really visible... so yeah. It's purple. I agree tho, no driveling!
