This guy sells wheel bearings cheap with free shipping. I sent him a message asking if he could discount 2. I got a rude response so I thought I would share my experience. I could understand them not giving a discount but they don't have to be rude about it. Randy "Could you provide a discount for 2 of these wheel bearings?"tennesseeautosales "they are dirt cheap as they are, free shipping, and you want more? sorry, thanks"Randy "I would have bought them anyway, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. You are telling me you wouldn't take $5 off to sell 2. If it was me I would do that just to gain a good customer. So **** You!!"Randy "Another thing, I am on a Aurora forum with 3500 members. I will be posting a thread about this so no one there will buy from you either."

The answer was rude, a very bad salesman. He could have said no in a more diplomatic way. BTW, a quantity of 2 doesn"t give a big order discount, unless you are buying a business jet.

I don't know. Didn't seem rude enough to warrant your response, or the post here?

Yes, that was the last thing I sent to him.
Latenight, it just wasn't very business like. A simple "no" would have been fine. I didn't need to be scolded, nor do I need his parts. There are several other stores that sell them for close to the same price. How would you have responded!

I would spend $125 on a Timken and not have to change them every 6 months. I've got almost 3 years on a timken(RF Side), and i'm going to be putting the 4th BCA/National hub (LF Side) on my Aurora soon. The one that guy is selling looks like the NTP cheap chinese ones that Advance Auto Parts sells for $94.

I figured out I don't even need them. I didn't know an axle could make so much noise. I could just go out and take some used ones off, if that's possible, but that is like doing the job twice. Aurorabrain, I know what you are saying about the Timken, I know they are far superior. But sometimes I can't afford the better parts.

Randy - thanks for the heads up. Personal opinion - you would be way far ahead to take a 100,000 mile used one off one of your parts cars over any non-Timken you could buy. Brain's experience bears this out.
Rockauto has upped the Timken price a little - now $102.79+ship, but $5 less when you use the ACNA discount.
Now about that shaft - anybody had any luck with the Rockauto shafts?? I'm testing one on my Intrigue right now....

FWIW, this guy parts a lot of W-body cars, and sometimes I've seen the occasional G-body. I got take-off driveshafts for the Regal for pretty cheap from them after I nicked the boot on one changing the struts: www.moradpartscompany.com/

Thanks ntrenn, I will agree with that. A used gm part is better than a new china part.

I hate people like that. They spend more energy writing an angry, stressful email than if they had just typed "I'm sorry, I can't do that."

Not that i'm taking sides randy (because you know i've picked up a few things from you--thanks!--) but you gotta try and put yourself in this fella's shoes. selling things on ebay you get all kinds of questions from all kinds of loonies and he does sorta have a point about pricing and shipping. if maybe you would have alluded to purchasing more things from him in the future or something besides just asking for a deal. the response you received was a little short, but i wouldn't call it rude. was there a better way to answer you --sure, but there was also a better way to ask the question too. like i said not taking sides but a "**** you" might have a been a bit much

I still stand by my response. I usually try to see both sides. I wasn't being rude when I asked. That guy could have been having a bad day or something, but that doesn't mean you can't talk to someone normally. If he wasn't making money off of them he wouldn't be selling. Like I said, not giving a discount is totally understandable. But his response was not.

The answer was rude, a very bad salesman. He could have said no in a more diplomatic way. BTW, a quantity of 2 doesn"t give a big order discount, unless you are buying a business jet. If you're in sales or selling something in this day and age you need keep your emotions in check. Who knows, Randy could have needed 28 of them! 7 x 4? Just because the first order isn't huge, doesn't mean you don't have a good future customer. R.T. told us about the "bad" experience but also would have told us about a "good" one. How many more sales could that generate? Word of mouth can go a long way. It's OK to ask for a break, if you don't you'll never know.

I do believe a lot of the problems in general with sales is the fact no one is willing to be nice anymore. I used to sell computers and things and I would outsell guys that had so done for years. The main reason was I treated people as I would have wanted to have been treated. No question was stupid. If they needed help they got it. If they wanted a discount they just needed to ask. I didn't get rude I didn't get mad. If I could give a slight one I usually would. If not I said so but nicely. Rudeness in a situation such as this should have been curbed. Personal things in your life no matter what they are should also be curbed. They should have no bearing what so ever on the transaction. This is my 2 cents and take it as you will. Anyone ever remember NOT pumping you own gas?
