I have a 2001 V6 Aurora that I bought last summer that now has just over 100k. I've been fixing it up with the tips on this site (power window motor, throttle position sensor, transmission hardshifts / PCS etc.) Thanks for all of the info! I was looking into what I could do with the onstar system. I haven't tried to activate it, but I guess it's not available now anyway. But, looking online I found a site that has a bluetooth plugin for the old onstar system. Does anyone have any experience with it? It's called bluestar: costartech.com/pb/products/bluestar.html I would probably be interested in getting this hooked up if I knew it would work well in my 2001. Thanks for any info you have

Get a Motorola HF 850 bluetooth system. It's out of production but still available. I put one into my 2001 4 years ago. It's excellent. If you have some experience at putting electrical accessories into cars then it's a DIY.

I thought it looked kind of expensive too. That's why I wondered how good it was and if the onstar phone worked better while driving than a headset. I've never liked wearing those bluetooth headsets constantly, so the motorola system looks interesting.
I kind of wish I would have had a chance to try onstar just to see what it was like.

I use Bluetooth all the time, its an amazing feature. I have an original Jawbone headset with noise canceling that is amazing. My GPS connects to my phone using bluetooth as well. In all honesty an external, aftermarket system will work a great deal better.
