Alright august 5th I will be going to california. We will leave her and start our 5 day drive...the aurora is our mode of transportation. I must admit im a lil skeptical on how she will hold up, but a fine tooth comb will be going through the car too make sure there are no issues. I'll be getting a tranny flush, an oil change, a cooling system flush, tires,rotation,balance.....yippie!! ;D

But don't flush it. Unless of course you want a new tranny!

You wanna make sure the cruise control works. Comes in handy during those long stretches of wide open spaces where your speed tends to creep up due to boredom and you never know where Smokey Bear may be lurking. ;D Also check out www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx to find the best prices along your route. Have a safe trip!

I love long trips but hate cruise control, I never use mine as I get bored within 30 minutes at the lastest of using it so I just keep my foot at the same speed 91% of the time

the VW bug was my favorite car as a kid, loved that thing. It would be cool to have one someday, they get crazy good fuel economy if I remember correctly.

well if you werent driving her than hwo would be....thatd be weird to see a car with no driver go past me i saw some young kid driving with his seat so far reclined you could only see the very top of his head. i am sure the aurora will be fine i drove to LA in a 92 chevy lumina. my family had to wire me money to get back home. it took 6 days each way and i slept in the back seat during the day and drove at night. my diet was honey buns and coke, the rest i spent on gas. i was in poor condition when i made it back home. but she didnt let me down.

I am hoping you are right speed. I figure as long as I get all the fluids changed and keep an eye on the temp I'll be ok.

I have the same sort of story except going to Cincinnati and driving 1700 miles back home in a '69 Lincoln Continental. Except the Lincoln had electrical ghosts that would force us to pull over (loss of headlights and dashboard) Oh how I love roadtrips!
