I know that this review will be useless to the majority of you guys but if you are somehow stuck for an oil change and find yourself in Edmonton. As well this I guess applies to anyone getting an oil service at those quick drive-thru shops.
Em's Lube Shop
9909 69 Ave NW
Edmonton, AB
Warranty Approved, in and out in 15 mins or less, owned and operated by the same guy.
My father used to get his oil changes with these people for 15 years.
Never had a problem until I started bringing newer cars into the shop.
Oil change/filter $138!!!
Ok I can understand $100 of the cost being oil. This is where it goes awry. I know they have to push their other automotive services but that's the beauty of Em's, they don't push hard.
So it's the owner who is servicing my car from the top side. He approaches me and tells me there are some issues. He tells me the transmission fluid is really dark and that the fuel filter is in bad shape and needs replacement.
I explain to him the impossibility of the transmission oil, as it only has 5000 miles (8000km) on it and is still under warranty. I then start on the fuel filter and he cuts me off saying he meant the Power Steering fluid is burnt and the Tranny fluid was great! I watched as he checked fluids, power steering fluid not being one. I was about to ask how he managed to get into my trunk to check the fuel filter but instead asked for my bill and told him I would "look" into the other "problems".
I guess I will stick to getting my 3 hour oil change at the dealer! Oh well a free ride/pickup is always nice!
