ok, so I am having site issues.
every so often when I try and post something on this forum it sends me to the main page and all my words that I just spent who knows how long trying to write up doesn't get posted which is a real pain cause I don't tend to notice it right away until its too late and I forgot what I just written.
is this a board issue or something with my cookies, I am kinda 50 50 on it as I couldn't see why my cookies would end up doing that but Microsoft is known for stranger things to happen

What browsers are you guys using? I used to use Internet Explorer and had that problem. I mainly use Opera but Facebook works best on Firefox... I have found that neither of those have a problem with ACNA. I would really recommend Opera, I love it. Its faster than any other browser I've tried.
I haven't used Google Chrome but supposedly that is fast too. Can't tell you if it would fix ACNA issues though.

I guess I'd wonder what url you all use? I'd have to say, most of the problems seem to be with using the auroraclubna.com url. I've never seen what you are describing happen. I use the Proboards url though.

all my words that I just spent who knows how long trying to write up doesn't get posted which is a real pain cause I don't tend to notice it right away until its too late and I forgot what I just written. Sounds like it was pretty important stuff then! ;D I haven't experienced this either, and I'm guessing if it was a board-wide problem it would affect everyone all at once. Most of the login/posting problems that happen around here are usually related to some settings or software on the computer you're using. Anytime anybody has these types of problems (regularly or otherwise), first clear your cookies and temporary internet files. Close your browser, restart it, and see if that fixes the problem. If not then jot down and report this information: - date & time - browser you're using to access the forum (IE, Firefox, etc.) - URL you're using to reach the forum (aurorah.proboards.com, auroraforums.com, auroraclubna.com, etc.) That can help us narrow down any particular recurring issues.

auroraclubna.com and auroraforums.com do nothing but forward to the proboards account.

auroraclubna.com and auroraforums.com do nothing but forward to the proboards account. True enough. They don't actually forward (or redirect) to proboards, though. It seems more like it proxies (basic HTTP 1.0 requests don't work, it requires a host name), which is to say you stay in the same domain. But I haven't played around with it much. Browsers implement security by ensuring things from one domain do not have access to things in another domain. It's quite possible that some of the javascript comes from the proboards.com domain, and therefore has permission issues when you access the site by these aliases. If those domains are working fine, that's great. No problem. But if they aren't, it's probably better to use the proboards url.

I took collins advice and switched over to Opera server, and its a great server, much quicker with ACNA, and so far no dropped convos

I can change it to a HTTP redirect if it will help things.

Hmm, well if the whole page is in a frame, I wonder if there are some things it does that try to access the DOM in some way that it is outside its permissions?
That said, I've no idea if this is why people have problems or not. To really know, someone would have to identify the issue.
But a straight up 302/301 redirect would certainly be the most likely to work. However you won't see the auroraclubna.com url in the address bar.
I don't know to what degree you have control over this? I don't know what your setup is. But if you wanted to serve the content for search engines, you could always decide whether to redirect or frame it based on the user-agent. That said, how do search results show up currently? The address will always be that of the main page, which won't specify any particular thread inside the frame? Do all the search results just take you to the main page?

I will go ahead and change it to an HTTP redirect to see if that clears up the issues some people are having. If that doesn't work I could setup a page with a plain old redirect script on it but that might get caught in some internet security software.
