Got some goodies in the mail today... Part number H873CP for a set of standard pistons, E968K (YES THEY ARE FLOATING!) for standard Moly rings. mmmmmmmm... shiny I used that brand of piston and had to replace them as they scuffed due to the short skirts

i've been closely comparing the picures of mine and electrostatictommy's pistons. am i seeing things, or do my speed pro's appear to have longer skirts than his? It appears to me that yours have longer skirts like the pistons in the background of his pictures.

Bolts right up. Several 4.6L conversions done here. Swap info in a sticky somewhere. VIN 9 vs VIN Y is your choice.

Yep they're identical size on the outside I believe. You might consider getting your PCM tuned after the swap. www.madtuner.com

im so excited. i had no idea. i hate to say it, but now i kinda want my 01s 4.0 to just go ahead and blow. just the same im gonna go dig one up and start the swap as soon as time and money are all in place. while i have it on the stand, im gonna look into putting some roller rockers, and maybe go a little further. but brojla exhaust and k&n intake for sure. had i know about this sooner i would of had been on top of it. hit the internet last night after i read about this wonderful news. it does look to be fairly simple . mine is in such great shape, she deserves the extra power and the wife thinks it sounds like fun. so, maybe in a few more months i will be posting about the awesomeness that comes with upgrading to a big and better version of an already amazing car. this is the best club ever. thank you guys for doing this. so far i have been met with nothing but helpful kind people who are on it, and about their cars. once again, you guys rock.

If you do your own work, I would recommend studding the block, replacing the head gaskets, and resealing the lower case and oil pan.
If you want to discuss it further please make a new thread in the performance section so we do not clutter up golden95s thread. Thanks!

Coming along nicely! Do you have goal for a finish date?
I have been looking for a 4.6L but the prices here locally are outrageous. I would be better off buying a Cadillac dropping the subframe and scrapping the rest. Probably come out ahead.

Nice! I am about to do the inventory search for a complete rebuild this summer - and I need to get those manuals. Good notes, too so far. Although it's a 4.0, I'll be taking GOOD care of this baby hopefully with some extra goodies to boot. We'll see, just how well I can update my progress like you have. Bravo!

I would encourage you to swap to poly sway and end link bushings. Brackets are easy to make for them. Also, upgrade to the Caddy 22mm rear sway bar. I really like the feel of my '96 Aurora with poly sway/endlinks front and rear, STB, 22mm rear sway bar, KYB GR2 struts and dropped an inch.

^ Yes, that is how you mount the poly sway bar bushings on these vehicles. There was a write-up in the performance section at one point in time. I'd mold and make an actual bushing to fit proper but no one would buy them haha.
I have had zero issues using this method with them anywhere.

You're having too much fun man! I remember reading about the pickup tube/baffle in an old lynzoid thread from the crossover hack 'n weld.
Does anyone carry have a universal type poly bushing to press into the 97+ control arms? I don't see why it would be a bad idea if it is available.

what do you think about putting poly bushings in the aluminum control arms? Sounds awesome!! Wonder how much it would affect the handling. Is that even possible on these cars? If so, I would love to know how to get some poly control arm bushings.

I am sure it would be fine. Seems like they do okay on Corvettes.

True, plus if hitting potholes and running over curbs is a common occurrence then I'd probably pass. Otherwise I'd try it... most of the suspension parts are relatively cheap at salvage yards. You seem to have some reserve about it so maybe stick with your gut!

Looks like the original poster has left the club and deleted comments. I wonder what you people did to piss him off?

He had some issues and scrapped the entire project and left the forum. Really was a nice project he had going and a knowledgable guy(Golden95.)
