my best friend karl was driving home last night when his motor blew in his truck so i just took him to his brother in laws car lot and he drove away in a black on black '93 caddy sts with 160,xxx miles. it has minimal problems at the moment. a single hail dent on the roof, a shopping cart dent in one fender and a scratch on another one. the console is half gone too. but besides those things this is a sharp car. we followed each other on the way back to town and did a few 50 - ? rolls. oh and that's when he found out his horn fuse was blown too ;D i knew he would get me but the question in my mind was - how bad? the first time was a flop and we came up on traffic too fast. we backed off to 55 for a while and let all the rush-homers get by then we did it again. this time was more like it.
starting from approx. 55 mph, i watched him slowly pull away. at around 65 i was looking at his rear door. at 70 i was looking at his rear tire. at 80 my headlights were still stuck on his bumper. between 90 - 100 he cleared me for a second then it was over. he said the front started shaking.
saturday he's having a garage sale and we are gonna detail the crap out of it. i was gonna get some pics a minute ago but he had to get home to show the tow truck where his truck was. he wants to come out & meet us at the track in October.
from what i understand the 4.6 in his car is rated at 295 hp @ 6000 rpm & 290 ft/lb @ 4400 rpm so a hopped up 4.0 is gonna be close in hp & torque but the 4.6 gets its torque at a much lower rpm. the two cars are within 100 pounds of each other in weight. but the aurora cuts a much cleaner hole at 0.32 vs the caddy 0.36

Have him pull the codes. 93 /w 166k there's probably more then a few and sort out the problems... www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.htmlInteresting enough though. I won't mentioned exactly much quicker mine is then a certain 4.0 2nd Gen ;D ;D , but the '93 probably could stand some work. I ran an SLS and won, but it had like 25 less horses than the STS Lol, it goes from a win against an SLS that was smoking and had other problems, to a legitimate win against a healthy one..... Sort of like the ole' fishing tale of how big the fish was? The fish was this big; ________________ Month or two later it's this big; _______________________________________________

How does an STS turn into an eldorado? did you run the eldorado or the STS? Eldorados are quick from what I hear

Eldorados are quick from what I hear I've driven one. They have some pickup and I definitely like the looks of them, the 2 door is nice and sporty. Not a bad vehicle, but I wouldn't trade it for the Aurora.

I made short work of a Seville STS with my BMW 745 way back when but I am not sure about the Eldorado. I always thought the last Eldo was butt ugly bit I also hear it was pretty quick too.

thats a seville or SLS/STS because the eldorado is two door. In that model year STS and SLS are just different packages of the Seville. So the car in this picture is a Seville of some kind. I think I see STS on the trunk lid but the picture is pretty small.

Black on black STS, sweet car. Obviously the tranny problems dictate why your race with him was so close.
I say, no contest otherwise. I'm quite certain my STS would beat my Aurora in a race. It definitely feels stronger.
My Aurora isn't an Autobahn car, but I don't think that option would make enough of a difference for a much smaller engine to overcome in the same weight of car. It's just plain physics. Though the Aurora body is certainly more aerodynamic.
That, being said, I love both cars. And I only bought the STS as a 4.6 donor for the Aurora, LOL! Sadly, the Caddy is a high miler in rough shape, but it had a recent swap of a low mileage engine/trans which hauls butt.
Can't wait to do the engine! The STS even has a great set of "Aurora" tires! Gotta swap those! Anyone ever heard of them? I've heard they are an offshoot Hankook brand, but pretty cool to have the name of the car on the tires, the writing is even in a similar font!
