I'm going to need 2 new tires for the rears sometime soon, and since things are cheaper here, saw exactly what I wanted in Costco. Yes, they have P235/60R16 Michelins, yes they have a load force balancer (15$ each for mounting and installing), and no they won't sell them to me mounted and balanced because the car came with P225/60R16s, and those are the only ones that they will sell due to some worry over legal exposure. And, the P235's are the one's that are currently running on the car. It's the 99% of lawyers that give the other 1% a bad name.
Anybody else experience this nonsense anywhere else?

Ditto for Sam's Club. If that is the cheapest place to buy the tires just buy the tires and have them mounted and balanced somewhere else. Most places charge $30.00 an axle for mounting and balancing. yes, you will lose out on part of the warranty. So, its either get the cheaper tire you are looking for and lose warranty or pay a little more for the the tire you want somewhere else and have them mount and balance. On the hand you could get four new tires in the correct size and have costco do it and you keep the warranty of rotating tires, flats, etc. I know its twice the money and things for many people are not up to par right now so do what you can do for what you have got.

My aurora is opposite. It came with 235s but I now have 225s.

Go back to the 225's on your 2nd-gen if it'll be a deal for you. You likely will not really notice any difference in visible width or performance.

The problem is that there are 2 'new' Michelins on the front, following the broken spring episode. The 2 rears are OK for a while, but I'd rather not use them in the winter. So, unless there is a '4 for the price of 2' deal out there somewhere, I'm going to have to stick with sourcing 235's for the rear.

What would they say if you took in two bare rims and told them to put tires on them?

What would they say if you took in two bare rims and told them to put tires on them? Good question. I've got an extra set of rims, so I could always say they were for a Classic.

The guys says oh you have the wrong tires on that car....so i was like hey those are the ones you sold me 2 years ago. Well they replaced all 4 with brand new proper tires before i could even complain. It a liability thing.
