Saw this advertised in a computer magazine. www.carmd.com/I thought it was pretty cool. Anyone familiar with this tool?

It definitely looks like it would get the job done. However, there are other products available that do the same thing and are less expensive. Check out my ELM 327 Clone thread in this section.
I do not actually see what kind of chip it uses to run. Although, I may have over looked it. If you get something that uses an ELM 327 or alike chip, there is hoard of free and for purchase software available for those chips. This played a huge role in my decision. As well as the price of the clone.
I picked up ScanXL and PCMScan today...

Just looks like an overpriced code reader to me. A $20 code reader would accomplish the same thing. Pull the code then look in the book to interpret the code. Then google the code for repair advice. Save the other $80 for the car repair!
