I found mine (to the left of the driver's pedals) just by looking around, when I "hotwired" it to program my 2nd keyless entry remote last week. It seemed odd that the connector was just dangling down from the underdash area... is there some kind of bracket that is missing, or should it be attached to something?

Mine is connected to the plastic wall just under the steering wheel. Will take pics.

Yeah, looking at mine again I now see the two holes on either side that should be connected to *something*... just not sure from where/how it came down.

I know this is a little off topic, but is it possible that the car can/will still throw codes if no SES light is on.
It came on for a little while, but went off shortly thereafter.

Make sure that the light comes on when you're first starting the car to see that the SES light did not burn out.
