How big are the speakers with the 95-99 Bose system? The Bose and the non-Bose are different systems. The non-Bose has 6X9s in the rear deck. Since the Bose system has the sub enclosure under the rear deck the speakers are in the rear doors. I looked at them and it was just about the smallest speaker I've ever seen... like a 3" cone?? Could someone with Bose help me out with rear door speaker sizes to let me know what I can put in here? Thanks in advance!

The rear door speaker size for Bose equipped 1st. generation Auroras is 3 1/2". The 1995 GM shop manual refers to them as "twiddlers" so I'm guessing Bose intended them to bridge the gap between the 1 1/2" front kick panel tweeters and the 6 1/2" front door mounted bass speakers. I wish I knew their impedance but so far I haven't been able to find that information. From experience I know that Bose systems usually are a different impedance from most aftermarket systems. I have to admit that in your photo the speaker looks to be a 3"er. Attachments:

Excellent, thanks John! I think the angle of the pictures makes it look smaller than it is, or maybe they changed it for 96 or something? I doubt that though.

You can test with an ohmmeter. Typically Bose uses 1-2 ohms impedance drivers and their amps are current based rather than voltage based. They also have acoustic/electroacoustic characteristics designed to match their enclosures, Bose's specialty.

The speaker output from the Bose head unit is line level. It has not yet been amplified. Which is why if you disconnect the amp power or install an after market head unit without hooking up the amp power you will not get any sound at all.
