I passed a three car pileup on campus a couple hours ago and I have to say I was impressed. There was a 04-ish Accord in the front with the bumper crumpled up and an older Carolla in the back with the front end totally compacted. Guess what car sat in the middle virtually untouched? A classic Aurora. My guess is the guy behind the Aurora hit him and he went forward to hit the Honda.
I couldn't stop and take pictures because I was driving at the time but the owner of the Aurora was standing next to his car. I gave him a thumbs up as I passed and said "Gotta love the Aurora" and he smiled at me. ;D
Just thought I would share the experience. That's one more reason any I love the Aurora. An import may be more reliable at times but only the Aurora can be in a three car pileup with a couple Japanese sedans and emerge victorious!

Nothing like a good American made car by Oldsmobile.

It's got better seating than a tank. A win-win situation. ;D

It's got better seating than a tank. A win-win situation. ;D True, but it does have somewhat less firepower!

How about a Ma Deuce (50 cal.) mounted on the sunroof? That'll get you some respect in some areas of the world.

My wife, in her '01 was t-boned a couple of years ago, coming out of a shopping mall. The original estimate was just over $6,000, ended up at $9,800, but you'd never know it was hit! The dealer body shop did an Excellent job and it drives just as solid as it did when we first got it! Ed

Structural integrity is wonderful. It is however a double-edged sword. Manufacturers design in crumple zones to reduce impact forces seen by the cabin occupants. Every millisecond a car gains by the structure "folding" makes the impact the driver sees much less severe. That being said, darn near anything that will impact you today, will have crumple zones, so you'll benefit from theirs, (and your car will be pretty much intact).

This 3.5 was in a rollover. You couldn't see that by looking at the roof......that's how strongly this car is built.

Ive had three ppl back into me. one at a school, one at the movies, and the other at work. never any damage besides a few scratchs. the one at the movies was a big black bodybuilder that tryed to pull away. I saw him do it as i was walking out with some friends and jumped infront of him( me infront of his car and the Aurora in the back), pointed to the ground next to me telling him to get out and come over here. I let him have it for 10mins then let him leave when i saw that he didnt hurt her. DONT MESS WITH THE AURORA.

I have had my share of cars in my day but by and large my favorites have been from Oldsmobile, 6 of them in all. From a cutlass my wife launched from the road into a field decapitating numerous fence posts and scaring the cattle, then driving to and back home from Walmart, to a big block cutlass that out ran corvettes. They just did not make them any better than Oldsmobile.
