Do I need to change my wires and spark plugs, if I have like an engine surge, my RPM needle moves a little bit up and down, I also belive I have heard some popping noise coming from the front of the car, either that, or I'm going nuts here.

2 times my check engine light came on
I took it to school and hooked it up to scan the trouble codes in my autos class.
Cylinder 5 and 6 were misfiring. #5 1500 misfires. #6 300 misfires.
like i said it only happened 2 times both when it rained out. but it hasnt done it since.

I'm at 61,000 miles, but I really think, I;m in need of replacing the wires, at the same time I'm going to replace the spark plugs.
What kind of spark plugs do you guys recommend?
ACDELCO, if I can find them in my local parts store,
BOSCH Platinum, I heard some bad stories about them, don't let the Platinum name fool ya.
CHAMPION, good old spark plugs.
Let me know of your experiences with some of your spark plugs.

definitely AC Delco, i reccamend getting them here... www.rockauto.com (then click the big red button on the right side) it's the cheapest i've found plugs and wires, i think for my car a set of plugs would be $35 (for OE double platinum) and the wires were $100.17, all AC Delco. It only took 2 days to ship to me, (it came from Illinois) oh, also, i drove my car last night, those wires did fix the popping noise, loss of power, and hesitation. It actually feels like new. (edit, i was looking on there and i didn't see the plugs for the 99 Aurora i'm assuming they're the same as 98, you should be able to click on 98 for those instead of 99 for the year.)

Yes, AC Delco plugs are the best to use. However I like Magnecor wires better than AC Delcos. The AC's are carbon wires and will not last as long as the better built Magnercor 7mm race wires (they are broke aren't they?). Both are good at RFI and EMI suppression, both will work good and make your car feel like new. The Magnecor's are $107 from UltraRev.com, about the same price. You can also get your AC Delco plugs there. (Check on Supa's site for Magnecor as well, they're sold in many speed shops)
NKG plugs have had good things said about them, but on checking their web site, they have about 5 different plugs that will fit the Aurora, and only one (the most expensive) is platinuim. The most widely sold is an "Iridium" plug, second down in the pricing list. I wouldn't think this to be an exact replacement so NKG get a provisional recommendation.
Oh yeah, Bosch sucks. The two and the four element stators are a joke. Do not use Champions, Aurori eat them up like milk chocolate.

Just put AC Delcos in last night on my 95. 81k miles and mine started to sputter and pop(backfire). Found the #5 wire was arching and the loss of power was substantial. Put new plugs and wires in and problem solved! Runs like a swiss watch! Total time spent on replacing was under an hour with my dad helping me out. Had to remove the coil pack to get to the back plugs, but all in all, was a pretty clean and quick job. It's amazing the difference they make! Oh ya, installed my fuzz buster yesterday too, again with dads help. He direct wired it into the plug behind my mirror, and hid the wires up along the head liner. I mounted the detector/scrambler up as high on the windshield as was possible. Can't be seen from outside, and hopefully will keep me from another ticket.

Okay so my AC DELCO's wires and plugs have been order, through my brother-in-law, since he get some what of a discount, so I'll have this problem with the engine acting up resolve.
If that does not work, then I guess I'll be looking at the Fuel Pressure Regulator last. I figured, I do need to replace the wires and plugs as it, I have about 62,000 miles and have not done anything to the wires and plugs, so I think they need some replacing.
I'll let you all know how it turned out.

Got the car back from my brother-in-law, new ACDELCO wires and ACDELCO spark plugs, and BAM problem gone, my Aurora trully runs like a fine swiss watch, I could not believe it, good thing I took time and made a little of research and asked questions, looks like I nailed it dead on.
Thank you guys for the help here.
I had forgotten the feeling of punching the accelerator.

Mi wires were shot, in bad condition, the plugs were real bad and dirty.
Now is all fine, running smooth, like butter.
