Well as of this morning I've got huge clouds of smoke coming out the exhaust so I'm not sure I'll be able to make it now. Didn't smell like gas and it was too dark to tell what color it was. Pray for her.

that's too bad man we're missing ya up here. but you're not alone. there have been some big hiccups so far. Tommy, Liz and Erik headed out late yesterday afternoon and didn't make it here until 7 am. They had 3 blow outs on the way up! it's a pretty long story but in short; one blew up in Tommy's face when he was airing it up and a guy that stopped to help them actually stole their jack and cross threaded one of the lugs so bad that it will now need a new stud. they are rolling on 4 lugs on that one ATM. But I found them a good used Toyo Tire for $20.75 mounted and balanced! That reminds me I will post pics later of their last blow out. It's the worst I've ever seen. Then Randy got lost and blew up his heater core hose and lost all his coolant less than 2 miles from me. Not good considering his HG has been blown for quite some time. It didn't completely over heat though. We had to rush to him with some water jugs and he spent the last several hours out there trying to get it changed in the dark. Apparently the hose clamp was all but welded on there. We got tents up in the dark and made a roaring fire. Unfortunately for most of us it's just too cold and damp to sleep outside. Randy and Lathan are toughing it out though. I talked to Jaysin yesterday. He too is having Aurora problems including a broken starter and dead battery and could not attend. Got my HIDs installed. wow are they bright! We are gonna adjust them up / down tomorrow night. The lower half of my dash is off b/c Randy and I was gonna check my BCM & LCM but low and behold all lights including dash are working again. In a few hours I'm running into town to grab breakfast for everyone. I'm the only one up right now. My living room and kitchen are full of bodies ;D teaser: So far I only have this one pic and it was taken before Randy got here. Tracy and Keith are meeting us at the show tomorrow. Mike we got your care package and would like to thank you on behalf of everyone...we all loved it! Wish you was here bud.

Big Update: well you guys been hearing me preaching about it for 3 years now and with good reason. The more members we can get involved in the Aurora MO meet, the more fun it is and it will be hard to top this year because we have made Aurora history. yes despite blown tires, hoses and light modules, we did not deter from our goals... to share one of the finest automobiles ever created with the world. we came and we conquered!! that's right, the city of Aurora belonged to us this weekend when 6 killer Auroras stormed the streets and put the Missouri Mustang Club and the Corvettes Club of America BEHIND US as we Finally got the big one, 3rd times a charm folks. ACNA - 1ST PLACE CLUB. you can all hoot and holler now. how did we do individually? well let's just say the 3 musketeers, Randy T, Xjsman89 & myself all took trophies for top ten in class! A big congrats to Liz for doing the same. well i swore the whole time it wouldn't happen but apparently we each appeased the Aurora Gods in our own ways. Let's see Tommy spent all his money on tires. Lathan drove several hundred miles w/o a pulley bearing on his water pump, NONE of us got any sleep and we froze our butts off a few times too. I took my dash off and put it back together twice. Randy fussed with a blown heater hose till zero dark thirty, etc. etc. It was such a blast and i can definitely speak on behalf of all the other members when i say we couldn't have done it w/o you Tracy & Lathan & Tommy!! I mention you foremost because you may not have won individual awards, you strengthened us as a group. it was unfortunate that Gator at the last minute could not attend the show as planned. hey life happens, but we were so pleased to see a 4.6 running in a classic for once. Good meeting you man and thanks for the extra hand. now i could praise and thank all night but i will try to hit some show highlights first. The competition was perhaps not as big as 2009 (25th annual) but there were some serious rides nonetheless. i mean when there's a lone cutlass parked across the street from us sporting a paint job equal to half of our cars combined values and with as much power under the hood as all of us combined it's intimidating. today i was parked beside a bright yellow 1967 mercury cougar with a built 302 that pounds 1,320 feet of pavement at 120 mph in 12 flat. it's friendly owner was an Ase mechanic who thought it was pretty awesome seeing us all together and had a lot of great things to say about our cars. secretly i was jealous of his car and him and i were in the same class but oddly... i got a trophy while he didn't. here's a few of the mustangs we fought and prevailed over as a club! every show has it's odd balls like this one with about a trillion karats worth of fake diamonds stuck on it everywhere. or this deal which occurs when a dodge durango and studebaker sleep together cool misc. cars nineteen thirties gangsta mobile hey man i hope you have fire insurance because your truck is hot a junk yard dog for sure oh yeah did i mention how the Auroras squashed the vettes too? best in show was awarded to this 50's Bel Air best bike award went to this vintage hog best interior award winner, and with just cause, i could see my reflection in the carpet lol well you know it was an awesome show and even though we somehow missed the parade, who cares. we got #1 best car club. of course it never hurts to do some last minute mods to push the Aurora legacy around like logos on center caps i took over 100 pictures but here's to comroderary even with hungry Auroras ( ) ......it was literally a BLAST stay tuned...trophy pics and other members photos coming soon.

At first we were kind of upset b/c Liz and I got the wrong trophies, and someone else got ours. She and I participated in the modified class, not the stock class. But there were a couple hundred people there and it was kinda odd to interrupt the awards ceremony to 8itch about it. besides as soon as they announced ACNA as the #1 club we could have cared less. Here's the funny part; last year we got 2nd place as a car club and there's no trophy for that. Shannon who heads up the show publicly announced to the Mustang club that they had better bring it next year (2011) as we were not far behind. Then this year after taking that trophy from them (who by the way has received that award something like 20 years straight), she said over the microphone "and the award for best club representation goes to ACNA who is so happy to steal it from the Missouri Club for once." i was like well we just made some enemies" Randy, keeper of the trophy, will have to post pics of that, however it's looks the same, just worded differently. mine: Liz's:

hey dan, those are my tips. your not the only one that loves them. just about anybody who has seen them loves them. its funny, because everybody asks me what brand they are, but i dont know, its just what the local exhaust shop carries. but on the "what did you do to your aurora today" thread, there is a link to some on ebay that are very similar.
i am gonna post my pics and 2 cents in the showroom, so look for mine there.

Looks like Liz isn't the only one who had tire trouble. I visited my family down in springfield, IL. Blew a tire on my way home last night. It was 35 degrees, I was 80 miles from home, and my S.O. was about as happy as a caged lion.
I am glad that I did not make the trip to Aurora, MO. It would have been a bad day. lol The pics look great though guys! Next year, I will be there. Come hell or high water.

Hey everybody. Congratulations to you all for a great show, especially our trophy winners. So sorry I missed the fun and festivities this weekend. The best laid plans... I did get to meet and hang out with a some really great guys at Randy's on Sat night though. I was thrilled that you gents enjoyed seeing the 4.6 in Dora, and I appreciate all the kind words. As long as everyone knows Dora is the real deal and not sporting a faux.6 we're happy. Thanks again for the great time guys. Gator I just made that faux.6 thing up, but feel free to use it all you want.

One tire we could have handled, but we blew three on the way down there and the last one exploded in my face as I was trying to put air in it. It was all worth it though. A good time was had by all and next year we will hopefully be bringing three Auroras down instead of just the one.
