Fixed my shift light yesterday. Not sure what happened, but the bulb base must have broken because it would not snap back into place. I hot glued it, seems to have done the trick. While I was in there I installed an "antenna cancel" switch. Fit in nicely inside the ash tray area in the center console. My h/u doesn't put the antenna down when listening to aux, CD, etc. so now I have full control over when it's up/down. Simple install and very handy at automatic car washes haha.

My car's antenna is stuck in the up position. Is this an easy fix, or? My perspective is Volvos. Volvo sells an antenna kit for this repair, which is usually the easiest way to go.

I usually just grab another one from the salvage yard, pretty much any 90's Cadillac, Aurora, Riviera, and other Buick models have them. They're just as old though so you might be replacing it again in the future. So far I've been pretty lucky with the replacement. That's another reason I rigged up the cancel switch. Less use of the antenna, less chance to break. There's also these repair threads aurorah.proboards.com/thread/12697?page=1#259476aurorah.proboards.com/thread/16182

Oil change....by myself, of course. Haha, me too, Marc! And finally replaced my failing hood struts. Forgot my "strut position retainer" (vise-grips) last week, ouch! Ordered new ones that day, much better, haha!

re-torqued the intake manifold gasket after replacing them last week...cant quite get it to spec 89'' pounds...got it to about 75...no more stalling though. Replaced 3 tire valves in 2 weeks after swapping the summers on. Also had a wheel weight that was too big and was rubbing the shock in the front left. Holding air and rolling smooth now

*******. Yeah I rocked out the vice grips for at least a year. Much more at ease having good hood struts though. Doh! One too many times.

Better than vice-grips... Open the hood and grab ONE of those bad struts and pull (or push) enough to put a slight bend in the rod. I got tired of looking for the vice-grips and found that trick works almost as well as new struts! I finally replaced my struts with a good pair from the salvage yard, but the bent rod works surprisingly well! Used that for well over a year.

changed water pump other day. The seal that's on the inner part of the housing didn't want to stay very well. Neither did the 2 replacement pumps line up well. New one is in and refilled with prestone 50.50...seems ok. Also did the rear bearing yesterday, that thing didn't wanna come out easy. Also replaced the rear tie rod dust boots.

Since I was told one of my 'juicers' was bent, $200 for a used set of 17" chromes, & a brand-new set of goodyears. Needs a bath, but the car looks like it's ready to star in a reboot of "Night Rider."

Hey quixote, where'd you get your car's spoiler?

Hey quixote, where'd you get your car's spoiler? It came with it. I keep looking at other G1's, I think they are missing something --for me-- without the spoiler. From skimming through the Forum, it looks like Lund made one for awhile, & some people have taken the spoiler off of a Saturn. I'm not sure which mine is, or what model Saturn that would be... Mine has LEDs for a brake light, but It's not working now. I need to run through the wiring to see where the problem is. If I can't get it to work, I'll probably try to get a back-up camera in there. The stock HCMB light is also out. I'd be perfectly fine with eliminating that one, going with the spoiler one, but I expect that it'd be more headache than it's worth. I'm not clear on the exact wording of the law, but in Iowa you can be pulled over if law enforcement sees that the County is obscured on your license plate. (I may have it wrong, & it is the State, either, or both.) So, I'm fooling around with relocating my license-bracket camera. I generally prefer to park well away from others, in public parking lots, but a lot of times around here there's a shortage of parking. I'm also fooling around with having a front-bumper camera. The spoiler has no support to the deck-lid in the center & fine cracks around the LED lens, from people using the spoiler to push the trunk closed. (Guilty) Ideally, I will probably try to figure out a center-support. I'm thinking of variations on 3/4 of a beer-can, cut to fit, painted to match, & rubber/plastic pad so it doesn't ding the deck-lid...

Do you see wires for the spoiler into your trunk? It'd be very easy to wire it up if there are.

Do you see wires for the spoiler into your trunk? It'd be very easy to wire it up if there are. I have to take the liner outta the deck lid, to see it. I've got enough issues to take care of with engine, brakes, & suspension, this is pretty far down the list of priorities. I had a near miss in the parking lot at work, someone else left a 2-foot smear of black across my bumper & jetted, without a word. So, the cameras jumped way up the priority list, & I'm trying not to park it in places so many a$*-holes have access to it. (The bumper/tire rash, on my white car, really left me seeing red.) For the same reasons, my F-150 is also getting front and rear cameras. Although my truck doesn't generally get marked. It leaves marks. So, I now have 2 dashes I need to figure out all the routing for several cables, before I move on to next problem area... If there were an "alarm system" that sprayed neon-pink paint, in the direction of anything heavy impacting the parked & off car, to mark drive-offs, I would ABSOLUTELY be getting 2 of those. I'm going on the assumption that just attaching bear-traps (like from Bugs Bunny cartoons) to the front & sides, would be slightly illegal. I'm pretty sure bear-traps are good-to-go, in Texas and Montana, though. Maybe just turn me car into a giant roach hotel, only inside-out... "You can bump my car, but you can't un-bump my car, as whatever you bump it with is now permanently attached."

Drove my 01 back and forth from work, like I do every day (had it a week now). I boldly use it as my everyday, one-and-only car. Got an FM transmitter/MP3 thing, so I could listen to music from my flash drive, through the FM radio. The factory sound system is too nice, and too well integrated into the car, to be messing with aftermarket stuff. I get GREAT reception, so that got me to wondering where the hell my antenna was. I haven't seen a windshield antenna since the 80's, and aint'z NEVER seen one like this one! So I'm guessing that a wire antenna, in, or on the windshield, on the passenger's side, is stock equipment?
Oh yeah, I nearly forgot the daily tours that I have to give to all the admirers!

Paulaurora got it right. Mine appears to be a strip of wire on the upper part of the passenger's side of the windshield.
