jummama and Paulaurora are BOTH correct, at least partially, haha! The radio attaches at the end of #5. The cable (#1) runs to #4, the radio antenna module. It then runs out to both the front and rear glass. Google antenna diversity or some such... And yes, 0aurora1 , you have this.

Hey quixote, where'd you get your car's spoiler? It came with it. I keep looking at other G1's, I think they are missing something --for me-- without the spoiler. From skimming through the Forum, it looks like Lund made one for awhile, & some people have taken the spoiler off of a Saturn. I'm not sure which mine is, or what model Saturn that would be...

I changed a tire on the side of the Interstate on my test drive! Was terrified to open the trunk!
But what I did TODAY, was to start it up, and go back and forth to work, like I do everyday.

New coil pack, so ---for the 1st time since I bought the car--- its giving no cylinder mis-fire codes. $190 installed, which doesn't seem like the shop did me a huge favor, or honored their on-line coupon.

A young gearhead at work today needed a jump, and I told him that I wasn't even sure where my battery was. I also told him that if what I thought was the battery, WAS the battery, that it only had a positive terminal. So now we're looking for a spot of bare metal to attach the negative clip to. No dice! The paint job on the engine compartment is better than some exterior paint jobs on other cars! I was not going to let him scrape that paint away. He's only 19, and he has a 1990's Honda Civic that he has all tricked out. I think I get better mileage than he does! So some guy brings in his VW and gets him running!Gotta give the kid credit... he is enthralled with my Aurora. So I decided to really pique his interest, and I get to tell him: "There ain't NAH-THING ordinary about this car!"

Yeah, apparently the 3.5 doesn't have a ground strap like the 4.0? But it sounds like you have located the remote positive terminal beside the fuse block. Just ground to some bracket hanging off of the engine block, plenty of those, lol!
BTW, your battery is under the rear seat...

So now I have to ask... if the battery is under the rear seat, how do I access it? And would that be driver's side or passenger side? And as far as the brackets hanging off of the engine goes, even they have a thick base of black paint on them.

Kaytrox.....to get to the battery, stand outside the car, and pull up on a front corner of the rear seat bench. The seat should lift right out.

Yeah what you thought was the battery was the terminal that you can use for jumping purposes. I really like the battery under the seat actually, keeps it clean and I think easy to get to. When I had to jump it, or jump other cars I usually stick it on that engine bracket or the bolt heads on the strut tower will work sometimes too. You're right though, sometimes it is difficult to get a decent connection.

Yes, the 3.5 does have a ground strap and it is painted black by the side of the engine by the positive terminal.

My first long distance drive. 225 miles round trip. Some city driving, mostly Interstate, some 45 MPH highways with traffic lights, driving around looking for a place to park, and DIC said I got 26.7 MPG. I'll take that!

It occurred to me today that my Aurora hadn't even been cranked in two months so while I was outside doing other stuff, I fired it up and let it run for a few minutes. There was the usual five-second delay between turning the key and the car starting but once it did, it fired up right away. The last time I drove it, back in early May, the check engine light came on and it was on today as well. It's frustrating that the car is a '95 and my OBD II scanner won't read any of its codes. The really weird part is that neither the radio nor the DIC came on when I started the car. Also, the ABS light was on. I hadn't seen that one before. After it had idled in the driveway for five or ten minutes, I shut it off and cranked it up again. The radio and DIC came on like they should and the ABS light was off, but the check engine light was still on. Just more weirdness with this car.

The Aurora is a GREAT car. WXPN public radio is a GREAT station. Zywiec is a GREAT beer. So after work, I'm listening to some tunes, and taking my Aurora to go get a case of beer. So I'm the chick in the car that you've never seen before, listening to a radio station that you didn't know existed, buying a case of beer that you never heard of. I'm not weird... I'm knowledgeable!

Just got my '02 Aurora 4.0 back from the mechanic, yesterday.
- Had a new set of Lateral Link bars installed in the rear. - New High Pressure Power steering line - A/C Condenser - Rear Valve Cover gasket
She is riding smooth and Cool...
However, on the maiden voyage into work this morning (43 miles), the DIC flashed "HOT ENGINE, TURN A/C OFF"! The A/C was not on, it was a cool 63 degrees outside.
I was cruising along at 80pmh, when I realized that the Temp Gauge was in the RED ZONE.
So I am wondering what could have happened to make the ENGINE HOT?
After a couple hours of cool down, I removed the Overflow Cap, it still had pressure.
Added a couple glass of water, and will see how things go on the way home from work.
Can the pressurized cooling system get air trapped, requiring the system to be burped? IDK...

Can the pressurized cooling system get air trapped, requiring the system to be burped? IDK... Yes. See Ntrenn's post of 9/11/2012, first paragraph, about getting the air out of the cooling system, in the thread noted below............... aurorah.proboards.com/thread/25344

Yesterday I removed the backup camera I had installed in the trunk lock cylinder a few years ago. I just became increasingly wary that one day the actuator was no longer going to function leaving me SOL. With a subwoofer enclosure, etc blocking the ski hole would leave me with few options short of destroying some things to gain access.
I plan to replace with a wifi camera for my tablet/single din setup. Mounting the camera above the license plate with some custom bracket utilizing the license plate lamp mount holes.

Mounting the camera above the license plate with some custom bracket utilizing the license plate lamp mount holes. ...I used emblem tape to mount mine to the top of left-side backup light lens. There's plenty of light fir backing up (for mirrors & if camera fails). It works well, although I'm not really sure that the top/bottom of the rear window isn't really the best place for these things. Too near the rear bumper, you give up all frame-of-reference, for exact distance. (Even with a "distance scale," like my camera has.) In Iowa, you can be pulled over & ticketed, for covering the state/county name with a license plate bracket. So, I bought a camera with infrared (supposedly) & license plate bracket ---tossed the bracket. If/when you lose the bracket, these cameras are pretty damned tiny.

This weekend was big...
K&N cold intake Manual over-ride switch (low/high/auto) (step by step coming eventually) Randomly found a non-greaser looking V8 badge that looks authentic to something inline with the design Oil Change
Problem: Got a cassette stuck in the damn stereo, tried to play an old old tape for giggles. Can't get it out since it missed the track and traped the door open. Anyone got the inside scoop on unjarring a tape from the behemoth radio. It's bothering me and I tried all conventional tricks from the days to the cassette. Something has it stuck pushed up and in, pulling it away and not releasing. Any hints appreciated.

Next; Straights, HID and touch up paint.
Also thinking wider rear tires which means rim change...... we'll see.....
Anyone replaced the shifter? Is it a long enough post for something more modern and left chunk?

Yesterday, I had to re-inflate my driver side front tire for the third time this week, so I called around to find new rims and discovered that 17x7.5 is a very uncommon size, so I was only able to find one shop that had something in stock that would fit.
My '01 is now running on gunmetal grey Vision Cross wheels with Continental Control Contact tires. I plan on trying to refurbish the OEM chromes (grinder on the inside probably) and then either having those put back on, or possibly selling them.
Don't worry, I'll post pictures some time soon.
