Yep, the cutout is sweet. I'll snap a picture of it tomorrow since the car is up on the lift. Just tapped into the harness a little ways back from the fuse box and soldered in a wire for the supply, I chose the chime circuit since it wouldn't have much load on it. Connected the ground to the chassis behind the carpet. Drilled a hole in the kick panel to mount the switch so it would be hidden, I like where it's at. It's real convenient to just reach forward and press it real quick. I'll take a quick shot of that tomorrow too. There's really not much to it, if you can do a retrofit then you'll figure it out. ;D

Here's the cutout. Used muffler clamps for quick install and ability to remove it later if desired. Location picture:

Well, I do not see where you ran the wiring into the cabin, but I think it would be best to run it through the wire loom and grommet under the rear seat( circled in red). From there run it like stereo RCA/Remote turn on wire up to the front. Rather than zip ties and duct tape(looks like duct tape residue by the connector) under the car. You may consider that. I will likely route the harness that way. Get that down pipe on there! IMO the cutoff is definitely the best of both worlds. You would spend $200 plus on a nice exhaust system/installation(if you don't have the means to weld yourself, and I am not talking straight pipes) and then you are stuck with the same tones all the time. It's kind of like the mullet or the tuxedo shirt. Business in the front party in back. I want to be formal, but I'm here to party. haha.

Duct tape was a temporary fix, only on there til I got home and got some zip ties. They work just fine for me, never had a problem running wires under the car. I ran the wire up into the body via a hole under the driver's seat that I used to run my LED underbody wires through. Ran the wire under the carpet and under/inside the driver's side door entry kick panel.

It just is not clean IMO. I am a stickler for wire management. That grommet is tight but it's doable or I may drill and use another grommet close to that one.

Do it! Both of you! It's a fantastic mod, it ties with projectors. Car pc switched would be cool, I wish I had that capability. The little switch under the dash works good too but it's not as cool. ;D

Hehe use it if ya got it. I like the little extra projects. And relays are just versatile.
I actually returned my DMH cutout for a few reasons and purchased a completely different kit. I'll have it here Monday some time supposedly. I was hoping for tomorrow but the weather will be crummy all weekend and I can't paint anything. Cat back will painted black except tips. New dual tips pending. Probably won't come till after. I will post everything in the exhaust upgrades thread when completed.

Good deal. What DMH issues? Haven't had a single problem with mine, opens quick. No rust/corrosion/deteriorating or anything to be seen.

Sall, you should run that off your steering wheel controls! Y'all should figure out partial opening settings, like 10%, 35%, 65%, 100%... but that would require a position sensor.

That would be pretty sweet, but I already use all the buttons for CarPC volume and hvac retaining using JoyCon. Partial open/close is doable. It would just take a couple separate relays from CarPC. It would take 2 relays for each setting. I can set carpc momentary push for any amount of seconds setting. Would just have to sit down and find how many seconds for half open, one third open, etc. I may just do %50 setting. Thanks for the idea!

I think if I regulate the voltage to the motor it will spin [close to] the same RPM at all times. Might make it last a little longer too. We will see how it goes!

That would really work if you had one on the main exhaust too with a ported butterfly. It would increase torque through velocity. It would probably still help with one, but I'd think it'd be a lot of effort for smaller gain than controlling original flow as well. If I'm not mistaken there's a BMW with an exhaust setup like that (not with a cut out though). ;D

Derp. Getting there. Floating in the pool is just so much more appealing right now haha Most of my projects are on standby. Doing some house stuff too. New entry door and storm door. Blah blah. Not enough time in the day. Jealous younger sister watching in the background. Primed/painted from the cutout Y adapter to the cat flange with 2000* high heat flat black paint. Not crazy about the color but not chancing on 500*(intermittent) high temp near cat and knew how it would look going in to it. One never sees this portion anyways, but will protect from further corrosion. From the cut-out to the tips is 2000* primer/paint flat black with three top coats of low gloss black for better look than the flat. I will open another thread though soon haha with the controller and all that stuff.

Sall hey cool! It looks like a lot more room underneath on a 1st gen! I hardly have room for my y-pipe and cutout.

Haha well that is really about the only straight section to put it in on the Classic without further modification and that space is barely big enough for the 7" Y adapter sleeve.
I finished up the rough install today and cured the paint sans running the forward/reverse trigger wires to CarPC relays, but it started pissing the rain and it's hot as balls in the garage so I am done for now.
It sounds great though!

there is an aluminum heat shield that used to protect the O2 sensor in its stock location, and now i've trimmed it down and had it lifted up higher with some temporary duct tape, but it came off so now i need to fix it again. I don't have enough room for my turn down pipe either, it hangs too low and would rack on speed bumps and driveway, etc... I might look for another electric cutout with a smaller gear drive so i can pivot the cutout higher and give me a an inch or more.

Yeah you certainly don't have as much room under there as a Classic it seems. Although your and Collins cutouts are quite large compared to the one I am using. So, I got sick of looking at the clamps. So, I took the exhaust back off and welded the Y adapter in. Been awhile since the welder was out. Followed up with the same high temp black I had sprayed before. You can also see where I drilled the hole for the grommet and wire harness to enter the cabin. I wanted to paint the cutout itself, but didn't want to tape off moving parts and have an uneven finish or gum something up. I also wasn't sure how they'd feel about warranty. So it is what it is

Exhaust paint, cutout and welds still holding up nicely! Sounds awesome and I love just pressing the CarPC button one time for open and close. Have two setting setup diode isolated. One setting is full open and full close the other is about half open and half closed.

Do you ever worry about the connection under the car coming apart or water/road debris getting in? Roads up here in Wisconsin are not forgiving especially during construction season (year-round and changing of fall to winter and winter to spring. Do you have a 110 volt welder? Sent from my XT901 using proboards

Nah, it's completely waterproof(and packed with dielectric grease in case). The connector actually physically screws together. It can't just come apart without being unscrewed.
Yeah I have 110 and 220 welder now.
