I would just nab a connector off a yard car and solder it in with some extra wire. Do the 'Power' button wiring as well too. Unless you are going to use an LED even one of those small incandescent bulbs probably get too warm for tape, who knows.

While you're at it, you might also want to check the fuse for the AUX port we were talking about haha.

<edited to add pics> I'd love a junkyard connector right about now but the upull near me doesn't have an Aurora in the yard...go figure, I've seen plenty there before. O'reilly and Napa don't carry a socket that will work so I started playing around with the busted old one. Found you can force the broken tabs out of the socket. From there you can either solder or undo the factory crimps and recrimp with new wires. From the end shown below I pressed down hard (on the workbench!) using a smallish screwdriver on the metal tabs. The tabs will come out of the black plastic socket. Once they are out, the crimp that holds the (now-broken) wires can be pried apart and the old wiring removed. From there I crimped in new wiring and added heat shrink tubing around the ends where the original wiring had broken, in the hopes of adding some extra support. The new wiring and crimped contacts can then be re-insterted into the socket. A new bulb and some superglue to help hold in place and it's back in action. I noticed the console wiring harness has a date code of 6/99, even though my car's a '97. Looking back through the service history I found this: 1-31-2000 / 17,011 mi. / N6130 Console Wrg Rep So apparently this may have been a problem even when these cars were new(er). And thanks by the way, if it wasn't for you guys I'd still be trying to figure out where the dang fuse for this thing is!
